Hello, I am hearing about these rare instances in which Barclay gives certain people a soft pull CLI.

I am creating this thread for all of those who have obtained a soft pull CLI with Barclay seeking the following information:

How long have you had an open account with Barclay?

What date did you get a soft pull CLI?

Was this your first CLI with Barclay or not?

(If you want to include this: How much % was the increase?)

The purpose of this thread is to gather when precisely Barclay gives out the soft pull CLI's that they do and to determine whether it's based on your time with them or if they just run a soft pull on all their members at a certain time of year. Also, I want to know how frequently this might be happening. We know it exists now, lets get some analytics.

Additionally learned information:

-Seems to work better if you don't call Recon but instead call the regular customer service line and they transfer you to the appropriate department (possibly called 'Retentions')

-A member here (Anomalous) was advised by the rep at Barclay that his increase was based off of his income at the time

-High income does not guarantee a proportionate auto-CLI. However, this may be a factor with soft-pull CLI's

-A lot of people asking for the soft-pull CLI are instead being offered APR decreases

-Most people with success are asking in ways like "Are there any offers for a soft-pull CLI for me at this time?" This seems to be working very well as some get counter-offered a lower APR, the actual CLI they requested, and sometimes even both

Stats on Soft Pull CLI in this thread so far:

Soft CLI range: 6% - 43%

CLI Length with card: 1mo. - 13mos.

Stats on APR Decreases in this thread so far:

APR Decrease amounts: 1.00% - 4.00%

**These stats are now out-dated and I've lost track of exactly how many people this has worked for but it seems to work for many, some more than once.**

I was approved for Sallie Mae January 23, 2015 @ $5,000

Recieved the card January 29, 2015 & called in to move my $2,600 limit from Rewards card and close it. new limit $7,600

Called In to see about getting a APR reduction. I was transferred to a account specialist.

Account Specialist said no offer for a reduction but I was welcome to call back anytime to check for offers.

At the end of the call he said, " I notice we have an offer for you for a CLi with a SP if you'd like " I said SURE.

$2,000 Increase and account isn't even 1 month old.

Since ive had the card I've had :

58 Swipes

$2,250 purchases

$3,158 in BT for their 0% APR BT offer.

2/19/2015 - paid $1,400 payment for my 1st statment that cut 2/13/2015 payment posted 2/20/15 on my account and $ also deducted
From my bank account 2/20/2015. Lol

new Limit = $9,600
Loving Barclaycard and is my main card ( SM & QS are my main cards )

Side Note : Income is $70k

Well let's see. My Sallie Mae was 3 weeks old. I called to ask for apr reduction and was declined. Analyst said, "however I do see a no pull cli available on your account for $1k would you like it?" Uhh YEAH! Asked her to check my Ring which is 6 months old but no offer. This was just last week. So it happened in March.

I have had the financing card since September of 2014 , 2000 limit. Ran at least ten grand through it since then, always paid it off or damn near close, and last night the 6th statement cut and I got a whopping 400 auto increase. Done with that card for now lol.

What is your UTIL usually at with the card?

Could try the recon line and see if they'll award you more.

I'm not calling any number because I havn't even gotten mine in the mail yet but Baller and other sources have discovered that there are rare situations where they will award a CLI with a soft pull. I would only trust an analyst for this though, just my opinion.

With that card I would run it up to 1800 and pay it off use it some more, pay it off again before statement cut. A couple of times I let a balance of 200-400 report but that was it. Over all utility on all cards is 19% :/ I thought about calling, but i think I am going to just apply for a different card, prolly the apple with rewards, I tried to get this one upgraded to it and they said I would have to apply for that card :/ we buy a lot of apple in this house lol. And iTunes.

I called number on back of the card. When you ask about your APR,CSR will have to transfer you to an account specialist. They are able to see your

offers on your account, for those that are intimidated by the analsyst. That is a option too.

Thank you this is super useful. That's a big increase to get. I'm glad to see the soft pull doesn't seem to reduce the amount of the increase.

Thank you this is super useful. That's a big increase to get. I'm glad to see the soft pull doesn't seem to reduce the amount of the increase.

I was happy with it! Went from $10k to $4k then moved $2.5k over from Apple.

Calll the analyst the other night no dice, called the # on back of my card for APR reduction no dice and asked if I had a SP CLI around and he mentioned he would need to obtain a CR and I said no dice... This guy was deffiently off shored that I spoke with today he seemed a bit confused on some of my simple questions to figure out what I was asking for since I have 0% apr for the remainder of this month.. I said I wanted to make a purchase and run a balance on it for a few months can you give me 0% apr for a few more months or a APR reduction and he seemed very confused saying you have 0% apr, I said I know it ends this month though... Anyways no dice on APR.. Might have to apply for the Ring or SM so they have a recent HP on me and hopefully get approved then try for a CLI on this card then cancel it and roll limit over to new card... I will give it till 7th statemetn cut first before doing anything though

Try calling later and getting someone that speaks clear english. Might take a few reps until you find the right one who understands what a soft pull is.

So it seems when people make their intention known they want to upgrade their cards they will notify you of a soft pull. I wonder if you had just asked for a soft pull if they would've said the same thing...thank you for adding to our knowledgebase. The amount of increase varies wildly it seems.
