I really am happy with Discover, but of course you have options everything from the BOA products, even Quicksilver gives back 1.5% on everything then there's Citi DC of course. I'd suggest you give it some thought and scutinize whomever you decide to app with because of course you deserve to be treated well.

I have a feeling that the DMV has a few higher IQ indivudals working for them compared to the two I talked with today.

I also have the Discover IT card. I do like the 5% from Chase a little better but not that much. I just asked for a CLI with my Discover card and with a soft pull was bumped up to $4250. This will become my everyday card. Freedom has a new residence in my sock draw.

We have a big 3 week trip planned to Alaska in June which will result in lots of restaurant charges... I was hoping to use the Freedom to really rack up some credit for future airline tickets. It looks like Discover also has 5% this quarter on eating out.

Oh good grief -- that must have been a frustrating phone call. The sad thing is that before I found MyFico, CSRs would tell me things and I would just take it as gospel because I didn't know any better. Maybe we should suggest that Chase CSRs join MyFico?

What about calling back and asking if you can apply for CSP? They are usually a minimum $5k limit and when I got my Freedom, they used they same pull for my CSP -- might be worth a shot since you've already taken the TU pull. BTW, I got my CSP with a pretty high SL ($24K) with a TU 687 -- your 673 is close. CSP doesn't have the 5% bonus categories, but you get 2% on dining all the time.

Sorry bout the Chase nonsense. I would look into an Amex card. We just got both the ED and BCE for our day to day use. Your EX should be fine for a good starting CL. I however have read that Amex rewards and points lag by 2 statements so that may be of concern to you. just my $0.02, hope it helps.

I am sorry for your trouble with Chase. Posts like this make me SO SO tempted to close my account with them. There is NO REASON what so ever for the, to be doing a hard pull. They can see the EXACT SAME info and entire report on a soft pull. Sometimes I honestly think they do it to purposely put a inquiry on your credit and to drop your score a few points. Amex does soft pulls and they are WAY more prime than Chase. Even Discover nowadays is doing soft pulls. Chase won't budge either. My GF mailed there Office of the President/CEO and even THEY said "It will place a hard check on your credit report". Chase is a joke. There "Lending Department" credit analysts are rude as you know what to. When I called them to verify my new account all I asked was for a extra $500 cause I was going to be using the card a lot and PIF and she said "Chase does not give more credit to PEOPLE in your credit case. I was like WOW you do not talk to ANY customer like that. You wanna make your customers fell welcomed and warm not like a piece of crap.

The bad thing with the second credit pull is Chase will use the excuse that "Since you authorized a credit check for a CLI we reserve the right to pull 1 or MULTIPLE CRA". I would steer clear of Chase. Call there EO and tell them you want that second pull reversed ASAP. You can escalate higher to. To the Office of the CEO/President. There ridiculous. I would also file a CFPB complaint if they refuse to remove. The CFPB has ALOT of power and in some cases compel or force companies to do something. They helped me in a fight with Verizon Wireless one time and I won. There service and the complaint is free for consumers.

I second the above. Definitely contact the EO. They can review the calls and should have the inq removed. Just went through this. Nice gentleman said it may take up to two months but it was gone within a week. Also received a confirmation letter.

I called the recon number AGAIN. The guy I talked to was really nice and said he can see where I said No to a second pull and that he would submit a request to have it removed. I will give it a week and call back if it is not removed. I really really really think that they think that we as customers are not educated when it comes to credit. The guy today 'got it' but the two idiots yesterday obviously needs to join myFico to learn a little bit. The lady actually told me I was wrong and she was an expert. Guess she also thought I would never find out about her pulling Experian on me. It did drop my score by 2. I am heavy on inq right now but come May 22 I drop over 15 of them (from mortgage shopping).

I did ask the guy today about an app for the Saphire card using the current 2 pulls they did yesterday. He said they can't. Each app has to be it's own pull. They really do like to play hardball. I declined.

Both Freedom & Disney were removed from my purse today. I was tempted to get the Southwest as I fly them once or twice a month. Not now. Disney has been at zero balance, I paid off Freedom this morning (third time this billing period). I have myFico auto billing to Freedom. Will change that this morning to Discover. According to my last 3 Freedom statements I put a little ver $3,000 through the $1,000 card each montha and always PIF every 7 to 10 days. Hello Discover!

I won't do business with companies that have poor customer servive and treat their customers as insignificant.

I'm glad you got someone more cooperative and that he's going to try to get the Experian pull removed, But...he's not well informed or being completely truthful either because I just got my Freedom about 3 weeks ago and they pulled both TU and Experian (saw them immediately). Later that afternoon I applied for CSP, was approved and no additional pulls. Sounds like you are making the right decision to SD the Chase cards and move on to a company that will treat you like a customer, not an uninformed nuisance. I think you should send a message or write a letter telling the head office of your experience and that you're moving your business to Discover. Who knows, maybe they'll reach out and try to win you back. If not, you've got Discover and can leave Chase in the dust.

with Chase you have to go about it backwards, don't ask for HP CLI's, apply for another card, CSP for example, minimum approval is 5k, and they will give you $400 for doing it, after a few months, you can move some of your CL to the freedom card, and in the mean time you can transfer some spend to the CSP card, and get the same base rewards for non-catagorie spend, and 2% on travel and dining. You can also try for their Southwest card, get 40k miles for doing, and move CL to your other cards, keep it for 6-12 months close, after moving CL to your other cards. Approvals are much easier than CLI's with chase.

Discover is good and Amex is awesome!

Not sure why CHASE is #7 on this list with the way they treated you today.
