QUICKSILVER - DENIED // VENTURE APPROVED - UPDATE 05-20-2015

A few weeks ago I shared that I took a chance and applied for the Venture and was instantly approved for $5K. Seeing that folks were apping for 2 cards at one time and getting instant approvals I also applied for a 2nd card...the Quicksilver but it was denied. Hmmm I thought well ok I will wait for the letter but I never received it and for some reason I can never open those electronic emailed letters so I called their credit card application dept last Saturday and I told the lady I would like a letter in the mail concerning the denial. I told her if I qualified for the Venture I should have qualified for the Quicksilver but I wanted to see the reason for the denial. Well Monday I received a call from the Executive Office concerning my denial and the guy said he would have my application looked at again. I wasn't fighting the denial just curious on their reasoning for the denial...I guess I will see what happens since I gave him the ok to submit for reconsideration. I don't care about the triple pull I have more credit than I ever dreamed of having so inq's eh not so scary right now. I don't have anything I really desire in the near future....Sallie Mae can wait until after the holiday season...and house hunting isn't until 2017. I will keep you posted

So the EO says I have "too many" new accounts and that is the reason for the denial on the QS...What?! doesnt make sense app's done seconds from each other but that is the only reason they gave.

That's really nice that they're willing to look at it again even though you didn't ask for them to. I'm surprised that you didn't get approved for QS when you were able to get Venture.

Yeah I was shocked too! I'm thinking maybe there was a glitch in the system that declined my app and they are aware and are making their wrong right! Lol we will see.

When I applied for the platinum in October, I also apped for qs1. I was denied bc you have to wait 30 days before applying for a second cap 1 card.

My guess is the EO wasn't even sure why the system denied him so they wanted to do a manual review. It's possible even that no reason for denial was given.

This happend to me as well two weeks ago, but I was able to read the letter that Capital One sends out to the applicant via email. It told me that my application couldn't be processed because I had a pending application or recently processed one. I had just been approved for the QS One $3k and the Platinum MC $2k. I emailed the executive office, and a rep called me two days later telling me that my application would be manually reviewed for the Capital One Classic Sparks card that I had applied for after my other two approvals. I am still awaiting the response.

At the same time I was applying for the QS One and Platinum MC I think there was some sort of computer error in Captial One's system because they approved me for both, but then I received an email from them telling me they needed more info prior to processing my application for the Platinum mastercard (after I had already received an approval). I sent them a copy of my license and proof of address. Two days ago I received another congratulations email from Capital One approving me for another Platinum MC with a $3k limit.

I called Captial One to verify and indeed I do now have two Platinum MC cards...

I still haven't heard back about the Business Sparks card yet...

Will they let me combine them in one?

They call ALL the versions of plat. mastercards Platinum MC, the second one is probably your Sparks being approved.

When j had to verify I'd for my second QS1, they said congrats on your platinum MC on the phone and the csr couldn't tell what kind of MC it was, but it was a QS1.

This is not accurate. I applied for the Spark cash on March 19 and then for the Venture on March 20 and was instantly approved for both.

Second thread about this today! So odd that they'd approve Venture and not QS. Could they be reducing the amount of people getting QS? I think QS makes more sense for most people over Venture. Good luck OP on getting the QS! Call/email the EO if this doesn't work out and they might be able to help...

I ended up contacting the EO via email to push my Spark application through. I heard back via mail that it was approved for $1k limit. I would say if people are getting the 30 day message, then they should just contact the executive office via email to push their apps through..
