I got an email from Fidelity to app for this with a promo code (VACD37) to get the $50 spend bonus for charging at least $500 in the first 60 days. It says to apply call 866-598-4971 if you don't want to app online. Maybe someone at that # can get you to recon or credit analyst.

Spend bonus offer is good for cards opened by 7/29/15, so I'll look at again in early July. Having a recon # that works would help.

I was checking the {Mod cut}- good news is they pull EX, that's my lowest inquiries, 6 (8 on TU & EQ), and my EX score is 704. But the lowest score I see approved is 702 with the comment "Asked question about paid CO in 2010.Stated a lot of recent inquiries (7) but no issue with them. Also, did ask if I did a BK". Next lowest is 707 w/comment "Clean report except old repo about to fall off". Most approvals are in mid to upper 700s. Declines include 657 "score too low", and a 685 "Denied, previous 6+ year old collection cited as reason".

I'm hesititant to app for this - BK7 approaching 4 1/2 yrs post discharge, but includes 1 BoA Amex for $8k, and worse yet I was 30 days late before filing in Sep 2010, so EX shows 30-30-90-120-150 late Jul-Nov and CO Dec 2010. Since I was late before filing they can report that, if not late then they have to report OK until file date and then Closed, IIB. BoA never approved me for the card (I've never done any biz with them), I got it from Bank of Hawaii when I lived in Honolulu in the 90s and they sold it to BoA in 2005 after I had moved back to the mainland for several years, but I suppose they don't care whether they originated the card or not. I do have a couple of positive BoA mortgages & real estate lines of credit from the mid 2000s on EX. I suppose I could point that out to recon, but they seem very sensitive to any baddies. The other thing is I see a couple comments that they had EX frozen so FIA used TU - while more inquiries the BoA card shows no lates on TU, I disputed lates & TU removed them, EX wouldn't. .

When I saw comments in Credit Pulls about FIA asking about denying for a 6 yr. collection I re-checked my 10/2014 EX report from AnnualCreditReport and saw how bad the BoA account looked I was thinking chances would be slim. I saw one comment about FIA asking about a BoA account included in BK in 2003 - no way that would still be on a CR in 2014, so FIA must also check FIA/BoA internal data, so I don't think freezing EX and having them pull TU would help. Oh well, I'm doing well enough with lenders not included in my BK - Barclays, Synchrony, local CU & Cap One, so I'll stick with them until those derog IIB accounts fall off the CR in 2017.

Being FIA is owned by BofA.. I think your chances would be very slim.. Just trying to save you an EX HP. Either way best of luck whatever you choose. They could also pull TU as you saw.

Thanks, I was hoping you would reply with your opinion.

I would definitely wait longer. While BOA/FIA can be forgiving (depends on the losses from their internal records and how long ago - especially if IIB), the longer your BK ages, the more optimal chances for reconsideration since it's likely going to decline based on previous negative history with them (maybe you can plead your case at that point in time whenever you decide to apply). They do tend to be very sensitive to negative items so don't waste the HP just yet as CreditCuriosity mentioned above.

oh you have a co with BofA in 2002.. That was the kiss of death there vs. other things on credit report most likely .. Most banks have extremely long memories, some more so than others

They have a long memory and little forgiveness. I was thinking yesterday - I wonder if opening a secured CC with BoA and after at least 6 mos poz payment history that would paper over past baddies with FIA/BoA? A lot of hassle and we're way past needing a secured card to rebuild credit, but may be worth it to get back in their good graces, and not as bad as having to repay in fulll to get back in with Amex or NFCU.
