They denied me credit card just for one reason. I have no deposit accounts with WF currently. My FICO is 818.

I used to have mortgage with them for 10 years (paid off), checking, savings and credit card which I closed all at once 5 years ago when I paid off my mortgage. All in good standing all the time. I guess they are still mad about it.

Called backdoor number twice...they won't budge...both credit analysts told me to go to branch and open some deposit accounts first. Yeah Right...

Wells Fargo doesn't let you have their credit cards unless you have a bank account with them, they call themselves a "relationship bank" which is really just code for "we're going to sell you as many products as we can".

Seriously... Are you going to go in to open accounts? Don't be perturbed by the question but I had to ask... So go in, open a wells fargo account and then get $1,000 limit? I don't know..

Wells does issue cards to some with no deposit relationship. Their CCs are an after thought though and I would not personally app for any they have to offer.

Not surprised. I've had solid banking relationship with them for six years (business and money market) and while my scores aren't high like yours, they denied me. Made my appointments to go talk to my banker at BoA and one inChase to close Wells Fargo

That's not true. I was approved for Propel last year then Cashback recently with no other relationship. They do like to use lack of existing relationship as an excuse not to approve cards in many cases though.
