when to apply?

hi all

So i have had a secured capital one card for about 3 months now. It has a limit of $200, and i have been using it alot. I have payed in full every month and always get close to maxing it out. I really want to a rewards card and wanted to know if i should bother applying for a quicksilver one. I have used the Capital One prequalifying site but keep getting the message "we couldnt match your records to a card offer". Also is there a recon number i can call if i was to get denied? Thanks everyone.

I would apply for the QS1. I don't see why you would be denied.

hi all

I have had a secured cap one for a couple of months now. I have been using it alot and paying off in full every month. Does anyone know if capital one will make me an offer for their quicksilver one card when i qualify. I have used their prequalify site and i always "we couldnt match your records to a card offer". and I dont want to waste a hp on guessing. Has anyone been offered an unsecured card while rebuilding with one of their secured cards? If so how long did it take? Thank You.

I used two USAA secured cards for 6 months before they were able to offer me the platinum and quicksilver one on their site. I waited six more months due to other finances and was able to get it.

Maybe that helps, I checked their pre-approval website monthly and it always rejected me at first until about the 6 month mark.

What are your scores now? If this is your first card, 3 months is not enough to generate scores for you. Do you have other cards?

Its basically 500 on all 3. I also have the Swagbucks secured card for a month.

With your scores in the 500s, give it a few more months before applying for anything. Patience and time is your best friend when it comes to credit. Your profile is the reason why you are not getting any pre-equal on the CAP 1 site. Don't apply for the quicksilver as that will likely end up getting denied.

Wait a few more months for things to improve-
