Denied for Target card...

I have a target 1/2 mile down the road so I stop there almost every day for various items. In any case, I figured I might as well save 5% every time so I applied while in line last night. The cashier said I would receive my card in 7-10 days and handed me the printout. I noticed it said "further review," so I called only to find out I was denied for too many inquiries?! Including Target, I have 5 on EQ, no negatives and 800+ ficos. I was livid at the time, but have since calmed down to come and ask - is there anything I can do? The only reason for denial was the inquiries, so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to recon? Thanks!

That's bizarre. No idea if they recon but that's absurd. If nothing changes just get the Target RedBird card. It's a prepaid debit card and you still get the 5% discount plus it has other advantages

Did a little research. Apparently they don't do reconsider :-/. That store is beneath you anyways :-)

Ridiculous, they probably denied it cause of your good credit, they know the ain't doing no money on interest with you and used that bs as a cover up.

Not every state has the Redbird. I wanted that originally but just settled for the Debit Card. Didn't want a hard pull and be stuck with a crappy limit, I spend a lot of money during the holidays at Target.

There's ways to get them even if they're not present in your state

Wow I would be a bit upset to OP.. 5 EQ inquiries and scores in the 800's and they turned you down.. What is TD Bank smoking?

There is the Redbird prepaid and the Target Debit Card.You should be able to get the debit card which has the 5% off.

Now, this is quite shocking to say the least. With the exemplary account collection, scores and everything in your portfolio? Well, I suppose we're dealing with TD Bank anyways. Now, I don't know what would have been worse, say approved for $500 (maybe even higher with your excpetional profile) or being declined altogether. If it were me, I'd prefer being declined

Sorry to hear about the experience. I'd gladly trade you my Target Visa for one of your beauties, like the JPM Select

Personally i think they are ultra conservative. in 2013. i got a td bank card. extra reward. not sure how. but it had a $500 limit. canceled it after a year. 1 percent across the board .

I was actually expecting the $500 limit, so that would not have been that big of a surprise, however, I am now over it - Thanks for the offer though, Fin

Amen. Depending on how they deal with Nordstrom accounts, there is a very good chance Ill be closing my account.

When I first applied to Target I was denied too for "too many inquiries," I called CS and the rep said that one cannot have more than 5 (or 7) inquiries within a 6 month period. So I waited then applied again and got instantly approved. They pull EQ.
