For cash back you get half as much as for travel.

The Venture gives you 2 points per $1 spent, at a cost of a $59 annual fee, while the Venture One gives you 1.25 points per dollar spent with no annual fee.

So if you were going to spend $6k per year, and use your points for cash, it would play out like this:

Venture $6000 = 12,000 points = $60 cash minus $59 annual fee = +$1.

Venture One $6000 = 7500 points = $37.50 cash = +$37.50

But if you were going to spend $12,000 per year it looks a little different:

Venture $12k = 24k points = $120 cash minus $59 annual fee = +$61

Venture One $12k = 15k points = $75 cash = +$75

And if you were going to spend $15k per year you start to see the value of the Venture:

Venture $15k = 30k points = $150 cash minus $59 annual fee = $91

Venture One $15k = 18750 points = $93.75 = + $93.75

And if you were to spend $20k per year:

Venture $20k = 40k points = $200 cash minus $59 annual fee = $141

Venture One $20k = 25k points = $125 cash = +$125

Bottom line if you're definitely going to be up in the $20k per year category, you start coming out

better with Venture than Venture One.

Venture definitely !!!! Higher CL and 2x points. It's basically a no brainer. I had no prequalified offers on ANY lenders websites and I got Cap One QS (5K CL) and Venture (20K CL). With your scores, as long as you haven't burned Cap One recently, you'll be approved for Venture.
You could try for 2 card's, but be prepared for 6 HP's, 2 across the board for every CA.

Have quite a few cards and never had one fo them ask me for income verification. Income over 100k combined in household. I started a new job recently, so not sure what they would want. Husband is not going to want to verify his info as he has many other very high limit cards and would probably be (rightfully so) annoyed at a card he is not part of asking about his income. Does Venture often ask for this?

Cap One never asked me. I've put down 125K, which any Creditor can confirm thru "the work number". But I haven't had any lender request proof, other than SDFCU, who did request my last two pay stubs. You'll be just fine. Go for it.

But the Venture offers 2x the points vs the Venture One which offers 1.5x the points. These Venture cards are granted high CL's because they are anticipating you running large sums thru them. These are Cap One's premier cards. If your going to run $100.00 a month, than the Venture One may be the way to go. However, if you're able to run 1K, 2K, 3K, a month, as an example, than the Venture definitely beats the Venture One handily.

Are your FICO scores from FICO 8 or a previous score? Capital One tends to use previous bankcard or mortgage scores. I qualified for Venture 1 but made the mistake of waiting a week to apply for Venture and by that time since I had been on an app spree my FICO 8 score for EQ had not changed but my FICO 5 had and they pointed to that score as reason to turn me down. So as others have said, if you apply for both, do it back to back.

Thanks Uncle for your thoughts. I already do have a Quicksilver so I am good to go in that respect. I will most likely app for the regular Venture based on the feedback listed ehre. I just was not initially sure if regular venture required a higher FICO score in order to be successful, but the information has helped.

And even if in the next 2 years you cant run 8 grand through the card, then the second year ask them to waive the annual fee.
