NFCU Invitation to apply??

I just recieved an invitation to apply for a NFCU Platinum Card with a confirmation code. I am a bit leary because I was denied just a month ago by them. I have had a car loan with them for the past few months so perhaps that is one reason, they seem to value 90 days of membership for some benefits like overdraft. Just not sure if I should take a chance on a HP or if I should continue to garden. From my search they appear to give cards to people with similar scores although my exp score continues to lag the others. Any thoughts??

I want to get in nfcu so bad!! I was denied in March. I keep checking my offers daily. Hopefully, I can get a prequal!!

The weird thing is I dont have any preapproval online but recieved a invite in the mail. I went ahead and applied so we will see what happens.

The term they use is invitation an then provide a code so I am not sure it is really a pre-approval so we will see in the next 24 hours I guess.

They are in my signature block, they vary a little but are within a point or two of what is on there. They are myfico scores.

Sometimes you will get a credit card under "my offers" which is very similar to a pre approval

I havd never seen a credit card under my offers..I check pretty often...

Acutually when you log into your account there is an icon that says my offers in the upper right side, click on that and there are offers your preapproved for. As soon as I opened my account I got prequalified for a auto refi but not any cards.

Just thought I would check in to update. As I said I received and "invitation to apply" with a acceptance code so I decided to give it a chance, in the past I have been declined by NFCU so I was excited to get some hope of an unsecured card with them ( have a car loan with them since March). Anyway looks like a good news bad news situation. It has been a couple of days and it is still in review status so I didnt get declined right off the bat. If I do get declined I will just break down and do a secured card to get established with them. I will report back when I get something definitive on if these invitations really mean anything or if they are just a waste of a HP.

Call NFCU and ask if they need any additional information.

Funny, DH got an invitation to apply last month with a code. Went to apply, there wasn't any place to actually put the code, and the application went to pending with no immediate decision. The next business day, they approved him for the same limit of my card, which he's an AU on ($12.5k), and a better interest rate.

If it went pending, I'd not worry about it. Just let them do what they need to do.

Just got off the phone with NFCU. I was denied . Not happy to have wasted the HP. The agent said that their invitation is pretty broad and not a preapproval so I guess I should have trusted my instincts and not applied. I will just garden till next year bring down my utilization and let my final collection show paid and then apply. My scores should be upper 600's lower 700's by then, I am moving my direct deposit to NFCU so 6 k a month or so will be going through their bank all of which should resolve any doubts they have.

So sorry. I've read people have some success with sending a secure message to the lending department pleading for a recon and they ultimately overturn the initial decision and grant a card. Might be worth a shot if you want the card badly enough.
