Barclaycard Denied

Ok so I really wanted a Barclay card and applied today but I was given the 7-10 day message. I called to get reconsideration but unfortunately I wasn't successful. The reason given was that I have some old charge-off credit cards that are still reporting a balance. So oh well I guess it's just not time yet so maybe in the future.

I called again today to try and recon and was still denied. The reason this time was that they wanted to see a little more time of good payment history on my current credit cards. He stated that he wanted a little more mileage between by bad charge-off accounts and my good accounts. So oh well, I will eventually try again sometime down the road.

Don't feel to bad. I have no baddies but a lot of inq's and my scores is all around 730 and get denied from them all the time. Been wanting the SM but they hate me.

Try not to get too frustrated and keep your head up! Just keep doing what they want to see and you'll get there!

I agree. The more optimal your profile becomes OP the greater the possibility for an approval.

Don't give up on them. I thought they hated me too. Turns out it just takes some time.

Thanks guys! I have a few things that will be falling off of my CR's in 2016 so that should put me in a better position once that happens. Maybe then I will try again but until then I will continue to garden.

Listen to them. About a year and half ago, scores sub 600, applied for apple rewards. They said wanted to see more time. March of this year, instant approval for us airways card. All baddies gone, still young AAoA, but the time had passed. Discover also said the same to me, and I now also have that card.

While rebuilding, the same attention, if not more, should be focused on pay for delete, disputing unscrupulous collection agencies, etc. I succeeded in removing collections scheduled to drop off in 2019, from an agency that refused PFD without paying thousands of dollars (I did not owe that much). It takes hard work, perseverance, and lots of research, but it can be done. The results are very worthwhile.

Agree with all of the above.

OP you can't really expect lenders to open new CC accounts for you when you have unpaid charged off accounts reporting.

Clean up those baddies to improve those low 600's scores and you'll have much better results.

I got a Barclaycard Rewards with high sub-700 scores at the time of approval. Was only approved for $1500.00 so I charge like one thing a month on the card just to show usage. Don't give up hope! I would give it a shot again once you get close to 700.

I found Barclaycard to be hopeless if you have any baddies at all. I applied for their rewards card 3 times over the course of 2 years. Despite previously having 2 cards with them that were never late and were closed on good terms they just hated me for some reasons. Both old accounts were still reflected in my credit report.

- First time I had 690 or so fico score with one baddie and got denied. Used the recon line and got denied due to short history, inquiries, and baddie.

- Second time I had 705 or so fico score. Most of my inquiries fell off and had a bit more history, inlcuding a new 8 year amex backdate. I decided to try again and got denied on site and recon due to baddie and short history. When I questioned why they thought my history was inadequate with a 3 year AAoA, the rep said they want to see a mortage. lol

- Finally I apped once the last baddie fell off. Score was around 720. I had a bunch of new inquiries on the account and got denied on the site again. Had to recon again and explained my previous relationship with them. It felt like the rep was very reluctant but finally gave in and gave me a 1k limit.

Looking back, I am not sure why I kept apping with them. You'd think after they asked for a mortage I would have given up. Now that I have it I am not sure it was worth it. I am in the process of trying to get my limits up in preparation for auto/student loans down the line and the fact that they want a HP for a CLI is a real bummer.

Sorry but I could not disagree more. My wife and I have 3 BC. Arrival, Arrival +World MC and a Rewards card. 2 of the 3 have nice limits. Our BC discharged Nov 2012 and we still have some baddies related to this. BC may not be as easy as CO to get approved but they are def BK friendly and I have found Recon to be honest and easy to work with. We have gottnen regular CLI as well. I would not discourage anyone from app as long as your BK is 2yrs or older and your scores are respectable. BC is inquiry sensitive and they do look closely at how many newly opened acct you have.

I am 2 months out of chapter 13 BK and was approved for $2K limit. Follow their suggestions and show them some good payment history in the coming months and try again.
