Kind of confused, never seen this before. Legal action?

I applied for an online CLI with cap 1. Got a 7-10 day type of message.

So I got the message and its confusing, ive never seen it before =/

Dear K D A S , Application ID: 0numbers2919 Creditor: Capital One Bank (USA), N.A. Thank you for applying for a credit card issued by Capital One®. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application, we cannot approve your request at this time. Please know that in the process of making this decision, your credit score was not impacted. The reason(s) for our decision are:

• Based on your application information, there is legal action pending against the applicant

Anyone got a clue? Kind of a weird response, I usually get not enough experience with current credit limit

If you are sure you dont have a legal action against you, do not worries!! just remember online decisions are made by computers, and some times nformations are not correctly,

i would call them and find out what kind of info are this, best of luck

That's a scary message for sure. I would definitely give them a call just to make sure it's an error.

CAP 1 systems much be high on something... That is such an outragious response my goodness me.. They give people the craziest reasons for denial. As long as you don't have any legal problems, take that response with a pinch of salt.

I'd certainly be interested to know what type of 'legal action' would preempt one from receiving a CLI (even if computer generated). *sigh*

OP - have you checked your CRs recently? Any clue on what might be lurking in the public records section, if at all? Any possible civil (or other) judgements against you?

Wouldn't credit karma have alerted you? My fico tu ex eq would have alerted you as well. I would call them ASAP!

Was sleep all day (work nights) Ill have to give them a call tomorrow morning.

I do have judgements, that are over 6 years old garnishing my check. (All off report within a year)

Theyve been garnishing my check for about 4 years, so its not something new to my report or anything like that.

I check/pull my reports from all 3 daily, nothing new since the last HP I did on May 2nd.

Cap1 gave me a CLI just a month or two ago at my 1 year mark. Ive been requesting CLis about once a week since then, always get the not enough time with current credit limit though.

The pending legal action confused me, all my judgements arnt pending =/ I have 2 collections (from 2012), for such small amounts that they would not take me to court over (medical) and ive got nothing in the mail out of the ordinary. Unless pending means, not paid off?

Thanks for the input, I looked all over on a few search engines and couldnt find this specific string of words.

Will update if cap1 gives me any info on it tomorrow! I didnt see a phone number on my file but it did have a reference number so thatll probably work for the general capital 1 phone line.

CreditKarma alerted me to a new HP a few days ago, that was dated June 17th 2014 but thats about it. (One of their flukes)

I just pulled all 3 reports, nothing new still. Refreshed my credit.com and nothing new on that either.

I dont know how they would of found out about the garnishments. Cap1 isnt sueing me or have any judgements against me so there shouldnt be a way that they could inquire about the garnishment. The judgements were on the reports every CLI I got and when I opened the card.

I didnt realize capital one number is 24 hours.

I called them, talked to a nice guy.

Explained clearly what my issue was and what I needed help with.

He says let me look that up.

We go back and fourth with me explaining what the letter says to him, he keeps hearing legal action as legal transaction, he finally understands me and puts me on hold again.

Comes back to say, we are not trained and do not know how to access those reports and we are not able to.

So I asked for the number to contact so I could find out since they cannot help.

He put me on hold again, said he would check.

Came back to say there is no number to call and inquire about CLI denials at all, you cannot call anyone to find it out. He would be more than happy to connect me to his supervisor.

I told him, no point in talking to your supervisor if he cant access or explain the report to me either.

He told me I could check capital ones site and they have a page that tells the most common reasons.

I told him yeah, it usually comes in the denial letter, it doesnt have it on there, no where online can i find this denial reason from any company.

He asked if there was anything else he could help with, I said no and that was that.

Sooo, gist of what went on is, they denied for a weird ass reason and according to the rep I talked to, nobody in the company would be able to tell me what it means or even look up my denial via phone or email. (I told him multiple times I had the reference number for it, which seems pretty useless now)

So I dont think ill get to find out for sure what it meant from Cap1. =/

Its the judgement they also use IRA/ADS and EarlyWarning along with the three pulls(eq/ex/tu) as well I am also guessing LexisNexus as well, so it is amazing what they can find out about your credit/personal finances(early warning). Anyways, sorry to hear about denial. It was most certainly the judgement IMO.

I guess it could be anything (judgement or garnishment) I just didnt get why the judgement/garnishment would matter all of the sudden when it didnt before.

Some internal limit on your credit line where anything under they just dont care whats in your report, but to get higher they do care?

(They didnt care the last 2 CLIs, one was auto, one requested by me)

Annoying stuff =/ Cap1 is in my list of to get rid of cards anyway (Partly due to their support, partly due to their policys) so I guess overall it doesnt truely matter. I just like to know things

Ill probably call Cap1 when I get off work as well, hope for someone that speaks english natively so they could understand me better.

Part of my brain thought they somehow screwed my report up and got it confused with the guy in jail that has my name and that was why it said pending legal action. (the guys in jail forever) His car loans were on my reports at one time when I was younger, so its conceivable they screwed up and looked up something 20 years old maybe.

(I used to get his home loan and car loan questions as security questiuons all the time when I was like 17-20 before he went to jail, somehow his car loan and home loan ended up on my reports, they were all removed later)

Weird to have a unique name but when you look it up, its all articles on someone else!

Will update thread if cap1 eventually tells me what pending legal action means. (not just its definition but what it means in relation to my denial)

I don't know of any 'pending' legal action that shows up in credit reports (any reporting agency)? I though only finalized judgements, etc? Also, surely some of this stuff doesn't show up on soft pulls?

So my first thought is how does Cap1 know you have anything legal 'pending' unless they're the one's initiating it? That too doesn't make a lot of sense because you would think they would have maybe cancelled the card(s) you do have with them, but I've known them to grant credit even when a person already has a card in collections with them).

Do you (or spouse even?) have anything in default with Cap1?

Call them to get some clarification and find out the source of the legal action. Be proactive with this even if it is an error. Don't let it go unaddressed.

There are plenty of ways garnishments can be seen by creditors. See CreditCuriousity's earlier response. Be careful suggesting that CapOne is initiating some type of legal action. They aren't and this is very easily explained by the garnishments.

His garnishments have been processed. 'Pending' can be interpreted many ways. It's pending even though it's also ongoing in the sense that money is going to be taken out of his accounts this week, next, week after, etc until his garnishment is over.,
