My 2nd statement cut on my qs1 today and after hearing of others success with the luv button after 2 cycles, I gave it it shot. Hit with the 2-3 day message, used backdoor # for EO after calling normal CSR and being told my card would never go above the $500 it'll be at after credit steps ($300 SL) The guy from (what I assume was) EO was legitimately helpful , not just reading a script and put me on hold to have someone manually look at my acct (so he said anyway) although it's a new(er) acct I run $1500 thru it a month, paying 7-9 times a month, always PIF, The guy seemed to be hinting to me that I should try at the 90day mark. Any feedback from the vets of this forum? Am I doomed to a crappy limit?? I really don't want to be stuck at $500CL with this card. Any suggestions welcome. I just want to keep growing my credit and my credit limits.

Please don't call the EO for CLI requests. They're there for more pressing matters.

Anyway, just keep doing what you're doing and be patient. Cap1 is pretty good about auto luv after showing them some usage and payments. Always pay more than the minimum (you PIF, so that's good) and maybe in another 90 days hit the luv button. Your steps increase is guaranteed either way as long as your account remains in good standing.

My DW and I opened 3 between us new capital one accounts in December and January. DW 12/14, 1/15 and me 1/15. After 60 days we went online and requested CLI daily until we were approved and eventually were all approved with a week of the start of us trying. Don't recall each exact one as one may of been approved first try and the others the 2nd to 5th. They are soft pulls so no harm. I would just keep requesting daily after the account has been opened for 60 (61?) days and 2 payments in different statement periods have been made. I wouldn't expect large CLI this way. I think ours ranged from $300-$1000. My sister just did her 60ish day CLI online and only got $100 to go to $400 but she is very new to credit. I think the EO route would result in a higher CLI. I just created my own thread with a question about getting a low CLI (requested after 180 days from last CLI) seeing if the EO could get it increased higher. Your high usage and payments certainly warrant a higher limit. Be sure to highlight that to the EO and how the low limit restricts you from be able to use the cards for some transactions where the price is higher than your limit. Hope I helped, good luck!

Try a CLI online after the 3rd statement cuts, your account will be eligible then. You'll get an auto CLI after credit steps. If your using it enough and PIF, you should expect a decent increase. I would establish history first before calling EO.

You have had only two months with the card. Expecting any CLI really is not realistic. Give it time and usage and history. There is no shortcut and you are just starting out anyway. These things take time, and you can't expect it overnight.

And for the hundredth time yes, stop using the EO for CLIs. There is a reason the number was changed. They do not want to be pestered with CLI requests. The backdoor number does not mean "get whatever you want". You simply have to be patient.

I don't personally use the EO for this, either, but let's be clear: if the EO didn't want to deal with CLIs, they simply wouldn't deal with them. Credit card companies tell us "no" all the time - what makes so many of you believe that they're crumbling under the weight of consumers and addressing CLI issues even though they don't want to? When has a credit card company ever done that?

Sometimes people have a need to use the EO for a CLI issue. You don't have to like it, but stop shaming folks

I could see if someone had the card for awhile and had never received a CLI or an unreasonably small CLI... But when you have only had the card for a short period of time and you are already contacting EO. In my opinion, show your worth first, show that you can handle the limit that you have. I just think that the EO should be last resort. To the OP, continue using your card and the CLI's will come.

I've had a Cap 1 GM card for 3 years. Every 90 days I do a CLI......nope. It's been stuck at $1k. Still haven't notified EO. I haven't used the card in 3 years though.

But, OP, did you really expect a CLI at the 2nd statement? That is really early. Just give it some time and way another 2 months and try again. Credit is a marathon.......not a sprint.

I just want to keep growing my credit and my credit limits.

I started with Capital One with a 300.00 CL and 14 months later I had 4 cards with over 22,000 worth of credit. You do have to let them get comfortable with you and learn your payment and spending habits. Use the card a lot, pay it several times a month and the increases will come. I here people write that they get increases in 2 months, 3 months, I never have been so lucky. I can ask in 5 months and they will give me at least a few thousand, but nothing before then. And I have spoke to the EO before and they are there to handle ANY concerns/questions that you have regarding your account. Customers call there all the time unhappy with their credit increases, APR. etc. Call when you like and as often as you like. Credit Grantors make money off of you, without the consumer, they would be no EO department or a need for credit cards! They are just higher level customer service specialist. When you call the EO you don't speak to the President, you speak to a designated CSR that works in that area. They gather the same information that you enter on the online CLI screens, but it is manually reviewed and not system generated like the online CLI request. Good luck!

Also, to add to my previous post (and I cannot stress this enough) if you are not using your card heavy and making large payments on your Cap1 card, do not expect a big credit limit increase. Cap1 loves heavy usage and large payments. If you want a decent increase then I suggest you use the crap out of your card, make large payments (or pay several times a month if you have to) before you request an increase. Do this for at least a month or 2 prior to your request so they can see the history.

Her statement (June, July, August) shows charges ranging from 1,362 to 2,296 per month with multiple payments so her statement balances ranges from 59 to 224.

Do you recommend her hitting the luv button. She currently has a $3K limit and wants at lease $5K.

Tell her to try it now via the online link. If she gets offered anything less than the 2k she wants, tell her to decline it and wait another statement to try again. My feeling is with that spend she'll get what's she's looking for on her first try!. Good luck!! Although sometimes it does matter what card she has. Some Cap1 cards won't grow. Do you know what card it is?
