      <description>&lt;P&gt;My Brother applied for a card last week (I think he said Cap-1) and got the 7 to 10 day thingy. He didnt call and got a letter saying he was denied due to insufficiant credit history. If he had called would he have had &amp;nbsp;abetter chance? Do you always call and if you get a 7 to 10 is that generally an automatic denial?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I got the message when I app'd for the Venture but I&amp;nbsp;didn't call.&amp;nbsp; I was approved.&amp;nbsp; But if I get a denial then I would call because you already took the hit for the inq. so at that point you have nothing to loose.&amp;nbsp; If he just got the letter then I would call.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;It mostly comes down to the Bank Capital&amp;nbsp;one very tough Why,? Reps are conditioned to only to direct you to another dept,Why most go through the E.O route after denial.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;but I does not hurt to call to check on the status, 90% of my approvals were approved because I called.I was denied 3 times and contacted the underwriting department.the 7-10 day is not always a denial, but it sure helps to call because sometimes depends on the rep and every reps&amp;nbsp;is different might give you a reason,like,we could not verify your address,we could not pull your credit, but they wont tell you your denied because&amp;nbsp;to many inq,short credit experienc ect e, but to answer&amp;nbsp;your Question . It does not hurt or effect your denial or approval... and FYI .. if you go into a bank and apply (Capital one , they don't charge you the Annual fee,btw .. just learned that the other day from my Banker ..&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>If it says 7 to 10 days and not an outright denial I just let it be. Theyre going to review the app anyway whether I call or not, and I dont want a reputation as a PITA customer.</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;The 7 to 10 day review has always &amp;nbsp;been a decline for me, not one time a verification. &amp;nbsp;I have called once and this guy had 50 questions and while it was still a decline, it was rude and ticked me off. &amp;nbsp;It wasn't worth it to me to call, I'll wait for the letter.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

With many lenders, you can bug them and they just may change their minds to give you chance. if you have a good reason for the relationship. even with small limit. Others, i would never call as I would know their denials are final. I.e. Amex. Citi and Discover &amp;nbsp;to name a few. Chase can be reconned as well as BoA. But Cap one usually is Dead door nail if 7-10. Of course , YMMV&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I've gotten the 7-10 day message on four apps, and have called on three of them. The one that I didn't call about was before I knew about recons, and was a denial. Of the three I called on, one was just verification and the other two were denials. Approved for all three.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I always call because IMHO it doesn't hurt and if the bank thinks it should hurt for me to do so, then I probably don't want any other issues that might arise from it.&amp;nbsp; I am usually successful when I call.&amp;nbsp; I actually can't think of an instance where I wasn't successful.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The worst of them was Barclays when I app'd for the Barclay Rewards card.&amp;nbsp; I had app'd for an Apple card about a month and a half before that and was instantly approved.&amp;nbsp; Then I thought about it and decided that I would be better off with with the rewards card.&amp;nbsp; I called customer service and asked about changing it to the Rewards card and was told that I had to app for it and if I was denied they could then switch it to the rewards card.&amp;nbsp; So I did and was declined and so I called and asked them to change the Apple to the rewards cards.&amp;nbsp; They not only told me that I couldn't do such a thing, that I had been informed wrong, but they were going to close my Apple card too.&amp;nbsp; I asked why and was told because of the recent app and it appeared like I might be too much of a risk since I could be apping to overuse credit.&amp;nbsp; I stated my points about how this was certainly not the case and that a careful review of my report would not indicate anything like that, nor would the fact that I never used the Apple card indicate it.&amp;nbsp; The rep said no, no, no, so I asked to speak with a supervisor, she told me I couldn't, so I demanded to do speak with one, she said no, I asked if there was a manager for the department, she said yes.&amp;nbsp; So I kept asking to speak with the manager of the department and she said hold on and later returned and said the manager was busy at the moment.&amp;nbsp; So I told her I would wait, she came back again and said te manager was still busy and I said I would wait.&amp;nbsp; Finally, she came back and told me that the manager couldn't take my call but she would open the account, but only give me a small limit.&amp;nbsp; The limit we agreed upon and I what I got were not the same, it was smaller than it should have been.&amp;nbsp; I reached out to the EO and not only got the limit raised to what we agreed upon, but I also got the inquiry removed since I was given wrong information from the first CSR.&amp;nbsp; So calling can be done and sometimes you just have to be persistent!&lt;/P&gt;</description>
