Discover It i was itching to apply for one last card untill I garden for 1 year

I just applied for my final credit card discover it and boy was the application talkitive. i mean I supplied all the information and clicked submit application than the system said wait 60 sec it took me to another page to answer more questions time of employment and time of residence stuff like that i make $36,500 a year and work here for this amount of time blah blah blah. after submitting that page it said to wait 60 sec and than it said

You're almost done,

Thank you for your application

we just need afew more minutes of your time

I called and spoke to a gentleman and he said "sorry we cannot make any credit dicision right now our system is undergoing maitenance call back in 24hrs"

wow this is my 3rd time that i have applied with in every 2-4 months each

My Current scores(Updated today)

EX 662                15 inquiries
Equifax 665        9 inquiries
TU 691              5 inquiries

I have a charge off from BOA in 2013(settled for less than full amount)
120days late department of education in 2013(paid down 45 percent)

1 collection in 2013 (paid full amount)

4 recent New accounts from JANUARY-March 2015 amd two recent inqiures

My utilization ratio is 11%

my aaoa 3.4years

Current cards

Bank Of America Cash Rewards $2000

Home Depot Consumer $6000

Walmart Store Care $5000

QuickSilver One MC $2000

Wells Fargo Secured Card $500

todays approved cards but not yet reported

Cpital one QuickSilver VISA CL$3000

Care Credit CL$5500

what do you guys think will be the result when i call tomorrow? hmmmm lets see what you guys think. i am going to call tomorrow and update the results of it here

Whatever happens I wish you luck. I would recommend gardening for awhile though!

Honestly P. i can't say. I do know discover is very conservative. but with them asking you all that you just may have a chance. If even for the secured or joint card. Honestly, The thing jumping out at me are the things from 2013. That is recent in the eyes of credit. But hopefully they overlook the Co Since you have curent relationship with BOA. Good luck in any case.

I know it's not what you want to hear but you need to garden. I think you already know that though.

Discover can definitely be conservative, and your file has things I would be concerned about if I were them. 2013 isn't long ago in the credit world like Taxi said.

Good luck. You may end up having to chalk this up to a wasted HP and a lesson. Can always try again later. Never know, they may approve you for a small limit and give you a chance.

Thank you and yes taxi is right 2013 is not long ago at all. Last time they denied me was in May and it was for to many recent auto inquiries(manage to challenge them and have it removed),the charge off, and my student loan balance to loan amount was too high 75%... I paid it down to about 45%.

My auto inquiries were removed and my student loan balance was reduced however the chargeoff still remains.

I am aware that I need to garden and I plan to because I am shooting for the best buy credit card either store or the platinum (soon to be visa) and judging by 5 New accounts this year and 2 more accounts being added and the inquiries, best buy might look the other way.

I just hope these new accounts being open so close to the dates don't raise even a red flag in 3 years from now.

Good Luck... lots of good advice posted,either way it turns out for now..following this advice will cut down on future possible denials,and give lower Apr.....

Did they give the reason for the denial, or just say wait for the letter?

If its fixable, and probably is, make sure that issue(s) is fixed before the next app with them.

I would suggest 6 months before trying with them again.

Sorry you got denied, i was lucky to get approved but with low CL...question: why did you apply for a care credit card? you have decent cards already and i dont think you needed that one. Just IMO

Thank you for your comment on my cards. The reason why I applied for care credit was because 1 my dentist accepts it 2. my dental I have a serious tooth problem that needs both surgical removal and implant tooth. And I don't have the $$$ because I wiped my account paying off my credit card debts,collections(pay for delete), and family members who I borrowed money from. 3 is for my pets. 4 is for finance even 14 Apr for 48 months or 24 months 0% Apr finance is fine. Why are you saying it's not a card for ppl with good credit?

Peanut, Care Credit is great for those who need it! Even people with thick files and excellent credit use it.

I didnt mean to say it's not a card for ppl with good credit...What i was trying to say is that this card helps ppl to re-establish credit, and since you already had good cards with great banks, i was just curious that's all. I see it works for you and that's what matters.
