I received a mailer for the Disney Rewards Visa from Chase.

Not sure if it's legitimate and if I should risk the HP?

The mailer has an invitation number, a phone number I can call & the getmemyvisa.com website listed.

Chances of approval? I only have 2 secured cards, just past the 3 month mark on both and 5 inquires (3 from over a year ago for utilities & 2 recent ones

If you can justify the annual fee and truly get a good return on the rewards, then I'd say go for it.

Its a basic 1% back card, and 2% on some categories if you have the Premier. Some of the bigger perks are vacation financing, meet and greets, and many perks in the parks. My wife uses this as her primary card as we go to WDW once or twice a year.

I just compared both and you're right - the Premiere card looks like it would be a better card.

Still debating on apping or not.

I wonder if it can be "graduated" to the Premiere card later - anyone have any experience with this card?

I think you should be okay to apply as long as you have decent credit history. It helps to have at least one credit card already with some history. I used it a lot back when I only had it and the Wells Fargo Platinum card, but now I only use it for Disney stuff. The 0% APR for 6 months on Disney vacationing might be good to look into. And don't forget to bring it with you when you go to WDW, some discounts on limited dinning in the parks and also discounts on merchandise.

I'd agree with holding off a bit to app. You also mention if it will be a HP. There is no question, it will be a HP, the mailer does not change this fact.

As far as the actual card, run the numbers, but if the $49 fee doesn't scare you off, the Premier is probably the better choice as you get 2% on Disney purchases -- including the trip purchase itself. I would think that cost alone would basically pay for the fee with the extra points. Also 2% on groceries and dining I believe. The no fee is a flat 1% card, so it would take a lot of spend to rack up meaningful points, especially since this is Disney we're talking about (expensive!). So I'd go for the Premier when your file is ready. This card is geared for the major Disney fan and no one else. If you spend a lot on Disney trips and/or Disney merchandise, it's a good niche card with good perks.

I would also wait to app for the card. I've always had okay scores, no derogs and an established credit history but for my first chase card which was the Disney I got a low limit and they gave me the no AF one instead of the premier. Card is permanently sock drawered cause I had no use for it (I already had two other 1% cards at the time).

If you go to Disney fairly often or with your family, the savings are pretty good...especially if you eat at their pricey restaurants. I just got the $100 statement credit that in itself paid for 2 years annual fee.

2% back on restaurants makes it a decent dining card.

Another hidden perk for those who go to Downtown Disney to hang out and eat...it also gets you 10% off your bill at ESPNZone and the Jazz Kitchen.

To each his own but I basically got the card because I'm a Disney fan. The card looks very cool and I enjoy using it when I go eat out. I'll also use it to get discounts when I go to Disneyland and Downtown Disney
