I agree, with your scores in the mid 6s and starting recently (6 months ago), it might not be the right time to go big guns.

You didnt mention your income, but in the absence of a long and strong credit profile with no history of baddies, income has to be really good to support lots of credit quickly.

You now have 3 bank type CCs and a store card. That should give you a decent bump in score after they report. Try to use them and have one CC report less than 10% UTI and the others at zero for the best chance at a higher score.

I suggest making a good payment history and let your scores adjust and settle a bit. Higher scores will allow you to get higher SLs with better APRs, and better CLIs.

You do need to get things in place a good while before looking for a house like your user name suggests, and you have a good start going. Consider more apps in a few more months, while looking for CLIs and history.

Maybe consider joining CUs like SDFCU, Nasa, Penfed, or tothers.

Welcome to the forums, and keep in mind getting good credit is a marathon and not a sprint.

HTH

ETA: I tend to be conservative and I take a long and measured approach to credit. I was doing great, but had a huge meltdown in 2008 and it wont have a chance to happen to me again.

Hello everyone!

First post here. I am hoping someone can help me with new apps. I have been rebuilding my credit since March 2015. I have had Capital One Platinum since (started at $300, CLI after 2 months to $800) and a VS card for $250. I just apped for Chase Slate and was approved for $3200 and Capital One Quicksilver One for $2000. I would really like to try for the Capital One Venture One card and any others I need to app for to start building my credit. I paid off all (3) collections in March but have a horrible payment history due to old student loans. I have not missed any payments (installment and credit) for the last 2 years. Thanks for all your help. I love this forum.

do you need another card? and why get a venture one? you have a 1.5% card so why downgrade to a 1.25% card redeemable for only travel. your payment history needs to be better before you keep getting cards. and you don't need anymore cap1 cards honestly. just keep what you have for a it and let your history build. welcome to the forums
