AMEX prequal

Hello Community,

I just tried the AMEX prequal and received this message:

"Hello, ......
We’re sorry we couldn’t find an exclusive offer for you.

But based on your interests, we think you might like the following Cards."

The three cards were: EveryDay, Blue Cash EveryDay and Preferred.This seems to be rather generic response since I selected "not sure" as an interest. I'm wondering if this means that I'll more like than not receive a denial if I tried to apply. Thoughts?

I never had an Amex pre qualifier return a match and have managed to get quite a few of their cards. We really would need to know more about your profile before we can give good guidance. Any negatives? AAOA? Utilization? Any existing Amex accts?

I've also never gotten an Amex pre qual on their site, and I have two instant approvals.

Thanks for the info CAPTOOL! I received specific prequal for other sites, so I wondered if I was missing something with the AMEX one.

Hi B335is,

Well that depends on the CR. I have three negatives for all reports. EX shows 4.4yrs, EQ shows 9.7yrs and TU doesn't show but it should be the same as EQ because they both include older but paid off student loans for AAOA. EX said 0%, and EQ and TU showed 1%. No exisiting AMEX accounts.

Two are about to fall off and one is this year.

The one this year may be the issue. If it were me, I would wait for a pre qualified offer with any negatives on my CR. Are you opted in?

IMHO it means you will probably get turned down.

If I were you I would wait until my Experian score is stronger.

Sounds good, I'm disputing the one this year, so maybe once that's done, I'll re-try the prequal. I actually think I'm opted out, because I got that message when I tried the prequal for Chase (We are unable to locate any offers for you at this time.
This may be because you have opted out of "prescreened" offers from Chase and other companies or you have recently responded to another offer from Chase. ), and it reminded me that years ago, I was getting so many offers in the mail, and I generally didn't do CC, so I opted out for all, if memory serves me correct.

Is it possible to opt back in?

Thanks for the info! I truly appreciate it. I found the site last night and opted back in, but I still get the same message when I tried to prequal Chase this morning. Oh well....

It takes a month or two for the opt-in to take.
