Basically you were tricking the system so to speak. Or people would do app-o-ramas with other banks hoping one wouldnt see the other in rapid succession. This is no longer required. Basically the inquiries are merged, either by the bank or by the bureaus at the end of the day.

Chase can always pull a 2nd bureau, regardless if you go for multiple cards. There is a list of ones that let you combine. I know citi does not (and they can do a 2nd HP). Amex, chase, bank of america, us bank, barclays, etc they all combine. The caveat is amex is only 1 charge card and 1 credit card per day. Chase you can do more than 2, but have to phone in one at a time for approval if not instant. Capital one is a triple pull regardless but you can still app for 3 cards unless you have hit a limit with a number of cards they permit. Chase you can have unlimited cobranded cards. But for CSP, Slate, Freedom, Ink you must have fewer than 5 new accounts in the last 2 years to get approved. Unless of course you have tons of money in their bank and go in branch and beg for approval.

In my experience, Amex had me call in as they thought it was fraudulent. They approved me right away. Not sure how well chase would be for cobranded cards, as its best to not call in, to let it process over the weeks....it could be difficult to app for multiple cobranded cards only and have the inquiries merge? I don't know, maybe not.

You can get to a point where you have so many inquiries they stop hurting your score so much. You could also be new to credit, and adding extra cards could hurt your score more due to a lower average age of accounts.

The net result is 5 Cap1 inquires across all CR.

Excellent addition!

I honestly never would have even thought about that... that's what I love about coming here - I get to learn from the collective experiences of everyone, both the 'bumps' and the triumphs!

Thanks a lot for your information. Had i known about 2BM or 3BM, i would've tried it when i got my first round of new CC's 6 months ago. I'll be trying this next year. Could you please clarify a few things in still confused about?

This is no longer required. Basically the inquiries are merged, either by the bank or by the bureaus at the end of the day. Chase can always pull a 2nd bureau. If i read this right, Amex, Chase, Bank of America, US Bank, and Barclays will combine if you do multiple apps in one day, regardless if you 2BM or apply once in the morning and once in the afternoon as long as it's the same day? However Chase may pull a second bureau but combine those two bureaus for multiple apps? And Citi definitely will not combine a HP for multiple apps? What is Capital One's stance on this?

Not sure how well chase would be for cobranded cards, as its best to not call in, to let it process over the weeks Hypothetical, if i double app with Chase co-branded and i get approved for the first and i get a 7-10 day letter on the second, don't bother to call or anything? What if they decline because of suspected fradulent activity? The way it's worded, if they do not instantly approve or apprive after a app review, i would be SOL cause i can't call to recon and explain my case. Why is it bad to call with Chase?

My credit is not where i want it to be yet, but it is getting there> A few weeks ago i apped for Barclay Rewards card and got denied online, called for recon in the morning and got approved, same day later in the evening, applied for Barclays Apple Rewards card and got instant approval for double the SL of rewards MC. I have always head from people that it worked better when you apply from 1 creditor for 2 cards on the same day, and with my experience, i can say it did work!
