Last App Before Garden - Recommendations?

I am getting ready to duck into the garden and before doing so would like to pick up 1 more card to add to my portfolio. I have been fairly strategic in apping since i started my rebuild 5 months ago. Apping for new credit as derogs were in process of being removed and trying to app with companies based on who they pull for credit, etc.. Worked well for me as my scores still rose each month even while my AAOA decreased with new credit being added and Inq's being pulled.

Approvals

NFCU Cash Rewards June App - $18K SL to $25k CLI in Sept

Cap 1 QS One June CLI - $1500 to $4500

Cap 1 Venture One July CLI - $500 to $3,500

3 SCT Cards July App - $2000 worth

CSP Aug App - $8K SL

Amex PRG Aug App - NPSL

PenFed Rewards CC Sept App - $5k SL to $10K CLI a couple weeks later (Denied my PLOC but double my CL without me paying my first CC bill. Go figure)

Cap 1 Online Pre approvals - Venture & QS signature

DENIALS - NFCU PLOC in June, NASA CC in July, PenFed PLOC in Sept, NASA CC & PLOC in October (Currently under Recon but wont hold my breath)

I was thinking about applying for the BBVA NBA Amex as they will pull EX and seem to be issuing larger limits from what Ive researched. I can pickup a Venture or QS or even both if I time it right but dont necessarily want to end up with 6 HP's. I am also open to looking at another credit union.

What do you guys think? BBVA or Cap 1 or another suggestion? Im wide open for the last app of the year. I am more interested in larger credit limits than rewards or would love a PLOC. FICO 08 scores in Sig are current as of today. Thanks Forum!

I personally wouldn't bother with BBVA. Just ask 12njoy. It was an ordeal trying to get in with them.

Anyway, do you really need anymore cards? You have some great cards already. I think you're ready for the garden now.

I appreciate the encouragement to garden without the final app. Let me explain where my head is at.

Part of my rebuilding goal was to secure 60K in available credit and raise my scores to a minimum of 700 across the board. I plan on consolidating my Cap 1 cards and would like to replace it with another card to secure the 60k. I have 1 final medical collection coming off this month on Transunion and a tax lien that is being removed in the next 30 days of all 3 CRA's = clean reports. I wasnt sure how likely it would be to acheive both goals in a 6 month period when I started, but I am absolutely within striking distance of both goals.

Overall I am at 2% utlization and DTI of 5% at this time.

The last couple of years I dealt primarily with cash. I just rebounded from some fairly rough financial challenges. Not because I wasnt managing credit well, but because my business went through a very trying period without any real personal or business credit established. Through that period I learned that when you really need credit is when everyone seems to be hesitant to give it to you. Had I had access to the credit I needed at that time, in addition to my cash reserves, I can confidently say my journey would have been a lot less rocky. Im going to be prepared next time if something were to happen.

I wouldn't try with BBVA right now. Some on here are going through to many issues in getting a approval or denial.

Personally I would go for another VenureOne. More than likely you will get a large limit based on your other limits. Worth the 3 hard pulls for me.

Yeah, Im leaning that direction. Cap 1 pre qual says im good for the Venture card and QS. Would be nice to grab the signing bonus too! Also considering the Fidelity Amex. Will decide what to do this evening.

Why would you want two Venture Ones? Just because you can get them? It's a pretty high cost for 3 pulls not to mention no increase in rewards since Venture One isn't capped or anything.

I'd pick something else vs getting a duplicate product.

I agree with those that say stay away from BBVA. Even if you make it through their insane approval process and get a fat limit, you might just find that the first time you try to use it you get a transaction denied because the account has been restricted.

Have you looked at one of the Amex Blues? BCE or BCP?

I've prequal for the Venture and QS Sig, not the Venture One. Wouldn't do another of those...

Yeah, I looked a them and like the benefits but wasnt really confident in the SL I would acquire. I've read they do pretty hefty CLI's after 90 days though! Thanks for the input!

Just an update on my NASA Recon. Sent a very nice email explanation with tax payoff docs & statements about 48 hrs ago. Spoke with a CSR was told its still being reviewed by the loan commitee for both PLOC and CC Apps. Fingers crossed one of them gets planted, or both, and head to the garden! Still hopeful but wont bank on it.

What's your set apr for the Prequalified Venture card? Sounds like you made your mind up on that last card. If you can meet the spending limit I say go for it and grab that 40k points. Combined the two cards down the road.

If I remember correctly the Venture prequal it was 16.9 or something like that. Not too consecerned about the APR. Normally PIF and meeting spending requirements for bonus wont be a problem.

Going to hold out for the NASA decision. Plan B will likely be Cap 1.

Why not wait until these baddies fall off as your score would likely rise and thus better approval rates or APR w/ clean reports

Also no one can be sure of a SL you will get...Good Luck on your app.

Im absolutely set on heading into the garden November no matter what and not coming out for anything. Thats the plan at least Well, ill probably sneak out for a few SP CLI's.

Ive been focusing on CCC's that pull Experian which has the lowest amount of Inq's/highest score. Cap 1 is already prequaled and dont think the TU collection removal will make much of a difference. The tax thing ive been told will take 30 days to remove but I've read of it taking much longer. Thanks for the GL!
