Barclays CLI ,DENIED, no credit pull. WHAT? UPDATE

called Barclays to request CLI, front office rep transferred me to a "specialist". No offense to her, but I was unsure if I was even talking to the right rep as this women didn't sound like she would know enough to come in from the rain.

i tried to explain to her that I wanted to do a balance transfer. She told me that a HP would occur, I agreed to this.

Either way, she told me they were unable to approve it. I asked her if she could transfer me to someone else and she said they couldn't do anything more for me then she could. I asked her my score she said she didn't know, I'd need to call a credit bureau. I said didn't you pull my credit? She said no, the system did and declined you. I said aren't you supposed to pull my credit and go over it to make the decision? She said no, the system makes it. I was frustrated and said ok, whatever and hung up.

pulled my transunion report about 10 minutes later.

no hard or soft pull from TU. Last HP from them 10/7, last SP 10/1.

What should I do here?

any better number to call then the one on my card for this?

Call their credit Dept and have an analyst Look over your request

The rep simply checked to see if you had a CLI offer on your account. You didn't, so she decided to make no additional effort to help.

Called back at the 866-205-5973, spoke to a great customer service rep, he asked a bunch of questions, told me my credit is fantastic, told me my credit file indicates that I am someone who cares about their credit and he was confident I would handle my increase as well as I handle my current credit with them.
Aproved!!!
what a nice interaction with him. Getting to the right people makes all the difference!!

Also, he asked if I knew who I talked to, I said no, he managed to find out and apologized a few times that I had been transferred to the wrong place when I was transferred to her. I'm glad I called back!!

awesome! congrats!!! at least she didnt hard pull u the first time, its like when i request a cli online and it declines me and no pull. she basically just did that for u.

I can certainly vouch for the recon approach. I wanted to transfer a couple of balances taking advantage of my Barclaycard Rewards 1% fee with 15 months 0%APR. My credit limit was $5,000 and I decided to use the CLI button to try and double the limit so the utilization would be better after the balance transfer. No approval, letter in the mail. But no HP either. I tried the recon number listed above and explained what I was trying to do and even fessed up that I had a couple of new accounts and recent inquiries (I'm a sucker for signup bonuses—well, you all know how that goes) and worried that a HP might do more harm than good. The rep was extremely well-informed and nice. He confirmed that HP had not been done when I tried online. He explained to me options for moving credit from my CashForward card to my Rewards card if I didn't want a HP, but in order to actually review the request, he would have to pull it. I consented, and after a few moments, he came back and asked me several questions regarding the new accounts such as why I had opened them—I was honest and told him sign-up bonus for one, car repair at 0% APR for the other. He asked how much I spent on credit cards monthly, how much I typically paid toward my credit cards monthly and a rough idea of how much I would be paying on the Barclay Rewards card if they were to approve the increase and I did the balance transfer. CLI to $10,000. BOOM. I love it when they say "YES"
