I had 1 too many margaritas last night while planning a family trip to Disney. I stupidly apped for Chase Disney! I was enticed by the $200 statement credit and a little drunk. I got a 10-30 day notice, When I call the app status line it says 2 weeks. I've read conflicting post about whether you should call or wait it out. I recently had 90 day fraud alerts removed. Could it be a verification? I do have alot of new cards so I probably want to avoid UW. Right? Whatever happens I'm done applying until next year Although the siren song of Venture calls to me...

I'd call and make sure there's nothing they need to verify (as waiting won't necessarily solve that), but if they try to transfer you to lending and you don't feel like being grilled about new accounts, just hang up after the verification is complete. Again, either way, not sure it makes any difference, but doing it that way seems to lead to positive results for some.

As far as the card, I don't have one, but my grandmother does. It's not the most amazing card for rewards, but it does have a decent amount of perks and they send endless coupons for the disney store etc. So it's a card worth having at least (if you're into disney), if not so much spending on.

Wait it out 2 week message is typically a good sign. Once again wait it out and don't be tempted to call.. Check the automated status line a few times a day and hopefully it will change to approved. Best of luck!

Everytime I called prior why have you opened so many account in last year.. Denied... Waited out Hyatt 17.5k approval.. I think that is proof enough. I am not the only one that has stories like this.. This board is littered by similiar things along with FT and many other sites. Chase is looking for a reason to decline people if you call in to a UW. This happens to people with scores well into the 800's and incomes that are extremely high as well and they are declined for to many applications

Now if you have only opened a few cards being like 2-3 in the last few years feel free to call to speed up the process.

You can't make definitive statements based on your own experience since credit is so varied.

Anyway, there's certainly no harm in waiting, as I said, absent verificaiton issues that need to be fixed.

Oh it makes a different if you apply for a decent amount of credit.. Everytime I called prior why have you opened so many account in last year.. It does not mean it will always be the case. This forum has a tendency to extrapolate their experience into a broad based rule. None of us work for Chase and can conclusively say that waiting or not waiting is going to matter 100% of the time for every app. It worked out for you to wait it out. It has worked out for several people. Several have also gotten approvals without waiting it out. See my point? You can't make definitive statements based on your own experience since credit is so varied.

Anyway, there's certainly no harm in waiting, as I said, absent verificaiton issues that need to be fixed. If it makes one feel better to wait it out, then they should go ahead. But we need to avoid encouraging people that "wait it out means you'll be approved", which is basically what you are implying.

No, people have come to the conclusion that it's better to wait based on many people's experiences, here and other forums where they have dedicated threads dealing with the issue. Nothing CC wrote suggests that it's an aurptomatic approval if you wait, but you certainly improve your chances if you do,

The statement that "I didn't wait out this app and it was declined, but I waited out the hyatt and it was approved!" basically implies that "see? if you wait you'll be approved!". Whether that's the intention or not, that's how it comes across.

At the end of the day, it's up to OP what they want to do and no one can say for sure whether it will make a difference one way or another. If they want to call, then call. If they don't, don't. The choice is theirs, and certainly not going to be the end of the world either way, considering they only half want this card anyway.

I have a lot of experience with Chase CC's. I agree with not calling them and letting the computer run its course. 10 chase credit cards, all of the went into "your application needs more time".

Except for Freedom, my first chase card I have never called them regarding the card and they have never contacted me saying we cant process your app. until we hear from you. Some pepole do get a letter or something from chase asking them to call. But if you don't call, there is no harm done to you.

I have waited as long as 16 days for an app to process, and I am so far 10 for 10 with chase.

Two weeks message is often an approval after it works it's way throught the system. Like a few others I'd agree with just let it play out and not call in. If they need verification they'll contact you. Avoid calling in and speaking with lending or an UW if avoidable. In my case I let all three ride other than calling directly into verification on the first two. My third app actually was a Disney also and it stayed at the two weeks message and updated to approved yesterday. If I had spoken to an UW on any of mine I'm quite sure I would have had denials or much lower SL's than what I got. I had prevous CO's with Chase way in the past that I'm sure would have been brought up as well.
