Should I apply for a BCP again or BCE?

Hello Credit gurus,

So 5 months ago, I got approved for a BCP with 10k limit, they effectively took the card back 10 days later (long story).

Should I or can I apply for the AMEX BCP now, I ideally want the BCP but can I get a BCE and then upgrade that later?

Or the third option, just wait?

It may be a long story, but sometimes those are the most relevant to understand your situation with AMEX.

Please summarize if you can. Having AMEX "take back" a card seems a rare situation.

Ok if you guys are really interested.

I bought a plane ticket once I got the card. I got a notice to verify income with a tax return. I did. After sending it I got a notice, that my account is closed.

Wierdly, they did give me the sign up bonus before closing the account.

If the account was closed and taken back, what was the reason for the closure? Try to summarize it for the best response and course of action. Until then, don't apply...

That was the reason: Couldnt find my income or tax return stuff.

Honestly, I wouldnt bother with an unprofessional company as AMEX ever again but that damn 6% is too hard to pass up lol

Keep in mind if you apply again, it will be requested again. Your profile is flagged in their system and anytime you apply, they will ask to see it. If you can provide it again and them being able to verify it then you should be good to go-

O I have no problem with that! I give out my SSN over the phone everyday (I work for the government), I have nothing to hide.

It their archaic system for verification that required some account manager to call me and back and forth for a week that irks me.

It will happen again- account manager calling you so be prepared for it this time. If you are, then go ahead...

Is/was that your only card with them? If so a 4506-T request seems strange on the first card or approval. Or do you have others and the 10k they then gave you on the BCP pushed you over whatever limit that triggered the FR from them?

No it was not my first. I had an amex gold with them two years ago that I closed due to annual fees.

Come to think of it, my brother with the same name (first, last) had a BCP before me and he got triggered the 4506-T couple weeks after me too. His account did not get closed

I think this was a case of mistaken identity or profiling. I have tried to check that with them but they refused to comment on it.

EDIT: Would taking a legal route or BBB do anything to help me in this case?
