Approved for Southwest Rapid Rewards CC but

Lately I have been flying SW a lot so while coming thru Las Vegas airport last thur I saw the southwest kiosk and they had the premier card for 50,000 points. I applied and was approved for $28,000. Why do I need that much credit on an airline card? Anyway, on the approval form it stated that I will recieve the card in 1-2 wks however the time to start the $2000 spend would begin the next day. I can easily do that if I had the card to do my Chrismas shopping-anyone know if there is a way to expedite the card. Also would like to get the Plus card to get the companion pass. How soon can I apply for that card and should I wait until next yr to start the spend in order to maximize 2 yrs of companion passes. Thanks for info. I now have 3 Chase cards-the freedom, CSP and Southwest premier.

1. If you don't need the credit limit to be that high, you can move it to another Chase card. However, I feel that complaining about large credit limits is the definition of a first world problem.

2. You can call Chase and have them expedite the card.

3. If your profile supports it, you can app for the plus card right now. It all depends on your spend.

Chase won't expedite the SW card, unless they have changed this.

Your high credit line can keep your utilization low if you don't always pay in full. I love my large credit lines. It gives me room to make large purchases and keep my utilizaiton low.

I got the Premier and Plus in the same day. I made sure to complete my spend on both cards in January so that I got almost a FULL 2 years out of the CP.

Wish I knew I could have applied for both cards on the same day but kiosk at airport only offered the premier at that time for 50,000 and on website the SW plus is only 25,000-not worth it.

I have a question-is it just having the spend in January or the statement closing date that matters-for getting almost 2 yrs of companion pass

I don't know how to quote on my phone. Sorry. I just checked my statements, and I completed my spend in January AFTER my first statement cut. I got the cards December 2014 and got the pass in early Feb and had it all year and in 2016 also. That's a bummer about the Plus. They were both 50K when I got them.

After seeing your post I thought it would be wise to go straight to the horse's mouth and rep confirmed Chase does expedite their SW card. They will send it out in 1-3 business days so we will see. Barclay expedited their card next day for a $29 fee 2 yrs ago.

Usually if you call before 5pm EST, you will have the card in hand the next day. Congrats on your approval!

I tried to get a replacement one expedited once and was told that they don't. It's a bummer but oh well.

Interesting I was told they cannot expedite my card because they need to put the Rapid rewards number on it

That's what they will tell you, the whole embossing of the card is all done at the same time so it really takes no more that a few extra seconds to emboss the RR number on there.
