So I have an update!!

I thought November was going to be TERRIBLE, but it turns out, my scores have actually gone up!

And I really can't explain why.

But my Equifax has gone from 591 to 612!! Experian, from 607 to 611, and Transunion from 582 to 588!

Okay, so it's nothing major lol. But it's definitely better than what I THOUGHT was gonna happen. Using all those credit simulators had me scared my scores were gonna plummet 30 or more points!

I'm glad that's not the case here. I paid off the card I was active with and that was more of a mistake than I thought, because I'm nearly back at the balance it was before from everything I budgeted on it and that left me very little to pay off the one card I don't use at all (Capital One Platinum).

So this month, my goal is to pay off the Cap One Platinum and just use it for my phone bill and renters insurance and that's it. Then I can start paying down my other cards and continue using them the way I had been.

I'm just so excited that TWO of my scores are over 600! I might actually reach my goal of having all three of my scores over the 600 threshold before the year is out! Gotta be good through December.

October has been a pretty significant month. Overall CC utilization has dropped and I was able to secure several SP CLI (NFCU Flagship +$7K, Discover +2K, PPMC +1K). Working my way down to AZEO. Right now I've got 3/12 CC reporting...whittling those suckers down, one card at a time. Last night a charge off fell off of my Equifax report. That leaves only one charge off which is reporting to both Equifax and Experian. This one should be gone from both reports no later than March of 2020. I'm waiting for MyFICO to update my scores to see the impact of the CO deletions, but hoping to see a nice bump. One more task crossed off on the way to mortgage application target date goal 4/2020.

Well my fear of loosing my oldest closed account from 2001 (closed 2009) has hit. My scores all of them took hits and dropped. My coveted FICO 08 850 is in the history books after twelve solid months. The other scores took the bigger dives. Even have a 797 now ... ouch!

Will add, I went from from one credit card reporting $15 to two cards reporting a total of $690. Suspect this is the biggest reason for the score drop. WIll slowly pay down the debt and expect score improvement.

As to the loss of old closed accounts, only time will fix that part of my profile. Did close a bank that I had had with credit and other services that was thirteen years but, that would not really affect much right now (I could not stand the bank any longer and it was time - score hit or not).

The loss on Oldest Account and Average Age of Accounts is the risk on closing credit cards and paying off loans. Thick files can handle it but the thinner ones 'ouch'. With out the big K in my past I had credit reporting to 1972 but lost it all in 2001.

Aw, such is life and I am not credit seeking so all my whinning is really for naught!

October was a great month! I got 5 - 30 day lates deleted from my reports, however, EX only gave me 5 points for the removal. EQ & TU on the other hand gave me 15 points for those deletions! As a result I met goal score on EQ and both EQ and TU scores are in the good category. As long as I'm going in the right direction things feel great!

This month has been very good. I finally got into the Chase cards and was approved for the CSP. Also, I called AMEX Mexico and they are sending me the Metal Rose Gold Card (I still have the plastic and they recently changed it to metal for exciting cardholders like 2 weeks ago).

I'm just sitting here soaking in the moment - a moment that at points in my life, I though would never come. But. Here it is.

I have exceptional credit.

I was doing so good. SO good. And then I just failed at the end of October.

I'm gonna take it on the chin though, because at least the purchases I made were for an investment and not just frivolous spending.

So, I ended up applying (and being denied) for two credit cards. One from Newegg and one from PNC. I was in the market for a new desktop setup for my freelancing gig. I had been planning this purchase for awhile now, but my laptop took a nosedive so I figured I should just go ahead and get it.

For the setup I got, I only spent about $900 in total. Which isn't bad for the type of computer I needed (think gaming computers, dual monitors, rgb lights and accessories lol yeah).

The bad news is that I squeezed those purchases on all three of my credit cards and they're all pretty much maxed out. (Commence the tomato throwing) I only have $1,600 in credit limit though...

So now, at least two of them are going to report maxed since my next payday is AFTER their statements closed. I'm noooot excited about the hit my scores are about to take but I'll be ok. Scores can still go up. And paying off a maxed credit card is still better than when I filed bankruptcy before.

Ugh, the whole thing just made me realize why I hated credit to begin with. I get WAY too card happy and I didn't want to end up in this position again. But at least it's minimal and I can pay it all down within the next two months, three at most.

It has helped me increase productivity in my workflow. So I feel like in time it'll pay for itself but MAN.

It feels TERRIBLE to be back in "debt" again. Even if it IS just a few hundred dollars.

Sorry about that. Hope everyone else is doing well!

@Anonymous understand your pain and frustration! Most unfortunate and you did all that you could do. As you are more than aware, life happens! In the early days of credit building and/or rebuilding it is hard to obtain comfortable credit limits so we limp along!

Hang in there for awhile, it will improve but does take time. Credit is a slow build and not a speed race (speak with lot's of experience).

Had something similar happen and I had to use a Debit Card (money was in the bank but no credit cards with limits much different than yours). Took three try's to get the vendor to accept my payment method. No rewards or other card benefits but I did get the computer.

Thanks for the encouragement @Dinosaur! It's funny because now I'm kinda nervous about gaining more credit.

I'm gonna try to be a good sport and hold off on the credit applications and whatnot because like you said, it does take time.

On a brighter note though, today was payday and I paid one card down to zero!

WHOOP WHOOOOP! Lol how is everyone else?
