3rd party personal check printing service that's decent?

So my mom needs some checks. Yes, Checks are still needed to pay for some things that credit and debit isn't accepted.

The bank she uses want's an absurd amount of money for them and shipping. They want nearly $50 bucks for one box of 100 checks with shipping.

Maybe i'll get her to move accounts as this banks mobile app is pretty crappy esp with mobile depsoit. WF is like night and day difference compared to this.

Any comments on VistaPrint? It looks like Costco checks no longer accepts orders without a membership.

I've used vista print several times now for checks. I think I usually get the 25 check option (one book of checks) for about $4 and then S&H plus tax is only like $3 so about $7 total. They're pretty fast to ship and look printed just as well as any other check I've used. The only complaint is theres only about 20 something different designs it seems like- not counting the super basic styles. I like that you can add like 5 lines of text on the address spot for no extra charge because I like to put my phone number and email address on them.

Checks Unlimited 2 boxes (100 checks in a box) of singles for $4.95 ($5.95 for doubles) or 4 boxes for $11.90 ($13.90 for doubles) with promo code R66Q or NYDL (They got lots of other promo codes, just google them. They also operate other check websites, you can tell because they all literally got the same website design (I can't remember the names of any of them off the top of my head)) Handling is $1.90 per box and they do charge tax. 2 boxes for me with free untrackable shipping, $3.90 for handling ($1.90 x 2) and no EZshield fraud protection or in plant rush comes out to $9.56 for me. I myself was looking at ordering like a small book of 25 checks from Vistaprint but since it comes out to like $6-7 I honestly was better off just buying 2 boxes (200 checks total) from Checks unlimited for only like an additional $2-3 then what it cost me at vistaprint after handling, shipping and tax.

I haven't ordered in a while, but I always get the free untrackable shipping (honestly has never taken that long to come and if you don't have NEED the checks soon its the best bet) Or they got more expensive methods with tracking if you're worried about them potentially getting lost in the mail seeing as how they got your checking account info on them (Though stuff can still get lost in the mail even if has a tracking number)

Don't do the inplant rush (Unless you absolutely need them ASAP) I wanna say its never taken more then a couple days for them to ship when i've ordered without the inplant rush. I also highly recommend NOT doing the EZshield (It'll ask, and once you click no it refreshes and has it auto selected at yes for a reduced price or something, click no/decline once again and it should be taken off for your order for good. You'll also get another annoying prompt during the checkout for it asking are you sure you dont want it, just click no again) You're bank already offers you fraud protection and protects you, so unless you absolutely want it, its pretty useless.

And yes, this place is legit. My mom would order checks from them back in the 90s long before we ever had a computer or internet, we'd get their flyers/ads in the mail all the time (Heck I stillget them myself though that may be because of me ordering from them myself)

If you don't need regular checks counter checks might be available too.

I haven't used checks for basically anything in years but had something come up (EV charger) on Net-7 terms over a damned holiday even and my usual fallback of Chase's Bill Pay with the check option would've gotten there a day late on 5 business days.

That's admittedly more on the people organizing it rather than any failure on my part, but for this one off I just went down to Chase, asked for a sheet of counter checks and wrote it. Of course now I have 2 more that will probably be sitting here for years but w/e.

There's probably a small fee for it for most people but if you only need one every few years even the $4 bucks doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I used to use Checks Unlimited for years, very rarely now days. But I still like to have some just in case.

I also went through Walmart Checks more recently, because of the designs more than above.

some banks or credit unions offer free check books as many as you like

All my credit unions give free counter checks. As many as you want. These are basic looking checks on perforated sheets. They have all your info like a "normal" check. My banks (Wells, Key) charge $1 for each counter check 🧐

I used walmart checks, for around $15 I got what will probably be a lifetime supply.
