Transfers to DCU are "payments"?

Curious if I am doing something wrong.

When I try to pull $$ from an external account to my DCU savings account, the only way to do it via the website is to make a "payment" to your DCU savings from an outside source.

Is that right?

If you try to do it the traditional way and click "transfers" the site reminds me I do not currently have a credit card.

I mean I have done it a few times this way and the money is moved to my savings, but I find it odd they refer to it as a payment.

Wanted to make sure this was the norm.

For DCU, go to the Transfers tab and select Cash Edge. Doesn't make any sense but that is where you will go to set up your external accounts to do an ACH pull into DCU.

I found it and saw this however :

I don't want to be forgetful one day and move it out of DCU and get hit with $5 charge, which IMO that charge seems highly unreasonable.

Trouble is how to get it out of there someday. I never opted for a debit card.

I think for now I'll stick with my "payments" method. Try it, it works.

Pull it from a different financial institution to get it out.

Or alternatively open one of their godlike HELOC's, write yourself a check, and pay it to get money out too .

If you use People Pay and tell it to send to a bank account, you'll not get charged a fee for that.

If you have their checking, add the debit card to Google Pay, get a second Google account and add the debit card you want to send it to, and you can transfer instantly from debit card to debit card for free up to $2500.
