WF Checking $400 SUB DP

Opened a Wells Fargo Everday Checking the last week of March and satisfied the required dd amount in a little less than 60 days of the 90 day requirement. Received the $400 bonus deposited to account today. I’ll take it, thank you very much WF! 💰

I suffered through 10 years of banking with WF, so I particularly enjoy collecting a SUB from them, and WF counts pretty much any ACH deposit as a DD. Terms state you cannot have received a SUB from them within the past 12 months, June 27 for me, so I'll come a'callin' after the 4th of July (if we haven't melted by then here in Arizona).

Congrats! I've been contemplating doing the same here very soon, have until July 31st. Just trying to put some time between opening my USB accouint in May, and going thrugh a bit of a "delay" headache with them on whatver it is they do to confirm DD. It took almost a whole month!

I even called the payroll office to find out why it hadn't been processed after I received a paper check, and they said that they're still waiting on the FI. So if that little snag preventd me from getting the SUB from them I'll be a bit fussed.

Thanks @DaveInAZ for that informative post, and what WF considers as a DD. After my recent struggle with USB with getting DD switch over I'm a bit worried about meating the $4K requirement, though at least they offer 90 days as opposed to only 60. So it should be much easier even if they drag their feet on the paperwork. Though it's alwasy nice to be able to ACh from anther Bank to hedge your bets.

@AnonymousYeah, changing over payroll DDs can be a pain. But US Bank is another one that pretty much any ACH deposit counts as a DD, I did a US Bank bonus earlier this year (AZ is in their footprint) and a ACH from my local CU triggered the bonus, and then having a checking account helped me get their Cash+ card.

BoA & Chase are two that pretty much require legit payroll and/or govt. benefit to count as a DD. I just finished a targeted BoA $300 checking bonus yesterday that required $4k in DDs within 90 days, had to switch Soc.Sec. and part time job payroll to them to make it.

Sweet. I'm loathe to associate with Wells Fargo for anything (the sole reason I haven't gone for their Propel card), but a literally free $400 is almost enough to bring me over to the dark side.

Just consider using the bonus to open an account and close it after the bonus to stick it to em.

I did this last year myself. It was actually harder last time around; 3, $3,000 direct deposits were required over 3 months. I used my Navy Federal checking and each time it coded as meeting the direct deposit requirement.

It was a fairly easy $400.

I am currently chasing the $300 from US Bank. You know, everybody dogs on Wells Fargo but I had 0 problems. US Bank on the otherhand has been very wonky and clunky. I am not impressed by them at all. This one is 2 direct deposits totaling at least a combined $2,000. I just initiated my second ACH to US Bank today. The bonus should post at the beginning of July. I can't wait to close the account.

Based on my first impression and though a brief experience, I'm inclined to agree. I was thining they might be a good fit for a local Bank, asI've been without one ever since BoA moved out. Unfortunately my only choices were USB or WF, since USB sent me the offer I thought I'd go with them, at least as a trial run. We'll see how things shake out over the next 6 months.

Good luck! I just did WF and US Bank checkings. Both banks are known to care about "relationships". I will get the checking subs now and throw them a bone by keeping the checking accounts active for a while so I can later get their cards. Or more precisely subs. 🤑 Don't really care for their cards. 😆

I definitely pass on any WF cards, but USB Cash+ is pretty decent. I did a USB $300 checking SUB in March and then with a USB checking I app'd & approved for Cash+ a few weeks later and got a $100 SUB on it. Better 5% categories than Disco in my opinion, I pretty much just it to pay my electric bill & fast food, but my electric bill (no fee CC payment) is usually quite a bit more than my monthly Mickey D's tab.

Cash + has some good categories for those who can use them for sure. 🤗

Yeah, I'm not impressed with US Bank either, website clunky and I had a problem setting up external bank accounts that their tech support needed a couple days to fix. And for me they're too fee happy. I get my $6.95 /mo. checking fee waived for being age 65+ but c'mon, I have dozens of free checking accounts I can chose from and they give me no reason to pay them for one. And they had a promo of $50 for keeping a $2k+ balance in Savings from 3/31 to 6/30 which I did, but now I need to keep $300+ in the account for the up to 8 weeks they'll take to payout to avoid a $4 monthly fee. A $4 month fee for a savings account when they're paying 1/10th of 1% (.01%)???? Get real. I'll close both checking & saving when I get my savings bonus, I have a Cash+ CC, easy enough to pay with Bill Pay at another bank.

Well, I opened a Wells Fargo checking yesterday and got an email with "Status: Your application has been approved, and your new account is eligible to receive a bonus offer.", so I'm good to go. (You can't have received a WF bonus within the past 12 months and my last WF bonus was 6/27/19)
