I never understood the appeal of Timeshares in the first place, not once i learend how they work. Why pay for something that you can only utilize a few weeks out of the year. IMO you could essentially use all that Money to go on a vacation any time you want on your terms.

Hey guys, so I received a call from IHG Vacations and they said I could enjoy a 4d/3n hotel stay resort. Only thing is I have to put up a $199 security deposit plus fees. Now, the thing is I got disqualified when I told them that I got furlough when it comes to covid and so instead now they charge me an extra $300 for the room and the deposit of the $199. It doesnt make sense... should I dispute the $199?

I know a lot of people say to stay away from them and honestly I wish I didnt go through this vacation especially during the covid but it's my fault cause I didnt plan it out. But, I'm glad that I didnt buy the timeshare, I heard you cant get out of it even if you wanted to that's the thing that scares me the most...

Here are the terms - You must meet certain financial qualifications and attend a two-hour sales presentation (tour) in order to participate in this promotion. If you do not attend the full presentation or are disqualified at the time of the tour, the difference between the special package price and the retail rate for the applicable property at that time, or $300 (whichever is greater) plus premium cost and taxes, will be charged to your credit card. Minimum qualifications: at least 23

While your situation was unfortunate, not sure you can dispute it since you agreed to the terms and conditions of the contract which includes the deposit. Do you have the full T&C? I mean, worse case scenario you can try disputing it and see how it plays out, but on what grounds would you dispute the transaction?

Our annual dues are roughly $2k and we get 2-3 weeks a year at different properties based on the points transfer rates. For us it works great but we dind't buy it and pay the $30k+. Financially it wouldn't make sense if we had to pay up front for it.
