Best Bank?

I used to bank with NFCU and my membership was closed. I have since been banking with Wells Fargo. No issues but they are starting to get under my skin and I have about 10K+ in savings and I get about 4K in direct deposits. Any bank or CU that might get me the best savings rates? Located in VA

Out of curiosity, what was the reason for the closing of the NFCU membership?

Have you looked into any of the local CUs in VA, aside from NFCU?

DCU would be best bet

their loan products mostly sp.

eg. their platimun card can get up 10k with no hp

Only if they extend you an offer as part of their quarterly cycle, otherwise it will be a HP and they aren't shy if they want to see POI.

They do participate in the CO-OP shared branch and ATM networks so would be a viable option for OP.

@coldfusion Apped with DCU for checking and savings was advised it can take up to 3 days to know if i was approved or not.

@Harvey26 Sorry about the denial. A lot of CU's use chex, so I would encourage you to pull it and carefully review it.

If there are no negatives, I would guess it might be due to inquires (yeah too many inquires can hurt you here too unfortunately).

Anyway, I look forward to hearing from what the Old curmudgeon thinks.

Sorry again for the denial, I am with DCU and they have been great (same with a lot of CUs I learned about from this board).

As mentioned up thread, inquiries may have done it. Give it three or so months of no new checking accounts. Try again if you are interested in membership.

I'm sorry to hear that, I don't hear of many denials.

Get a (free) copy of your Chexsystems report to see what's on there. It normally takes 2-3 weeks to get it after requesting.

@1GaDawg85 I had Chase and Wells Fargo. Other then that no one else had Navy Federal for 4 Years.
