First Tech Membership

Hello there....I would like to know if First Tech will hard pull just to become a member? I know people can become a member thru Financial Fitness Association but once you gonna be the member with them then one needs to be First Tech member as well or doesn't need to do anything once you become a member with FFA? Any recent data-points on First Tech? Thanks

I already signed up for the membership 3 weeks ago with Financial Fitness Association and I don't see any pull (HP or SP) on any of my credit reports with each 3 major beaureas. All I have done is- just obtained the membership thru FFA. I have not touched First Tech yet like no any account yet nor even going to their site to become a member. I assume that once you become a member with FFA then you automatically obtain membership with First Tech, am I right?

I think joining the association just makes you eligible for First Tech membership. You'll have to apply directly with First Tech.

But I am told by many people on other sites that once we join with FFA then we we do not need a separate membership with First Tech or thru First Tech. However, a few who applied for the membership directly thru First Tech then they paid $5 for the membership, while I paid $8 with FFA.

I'm not a member with First Tech. I don't have personal experience on that process that you've read about on other sites.

If it's been 3 weeks and no communication from First Tech since you joined FFA, I think it's best if you reach out and apply directly with them.

It would be extremely odd to automatically given a membership with a credit union just for joining the association especially since every CU I have dealt with/heard of requires some amount deposited into am account (typically $5-10) that is not available for use

I signed up in November, no SP/HP did the app online. I did a "plaid" connection to my existing checking and they transfered the money from there. Took like 14 days for the Debit card to arrive. I'm also looking for DP's related to loans against stock portfolio, which is why I signed up. Application? Score Requirement? Do I need to prove income/employement etc...

I joined First Tech in May 2020. No hard pull (They absolutely do pull ChexSystems though and there are reports that they are somewhat Chex-Sensitive, just an FYI) If you join with their online application they pay the fee for you to join the Financial Fitness Association or Computer History Museum (Your choice which one you want to join) so there is no need to join those seperately or before apping for First Tech Membership. They'll also send you a 1099-INT form for tax time since the fee they pay for you to join is considered income (Which is stated nice and clear right on their online application so it isn't a surprise.)

And no, if you go to the Financial Fitness Association (FFA) website and sign up there it does NOT automatically make you a First Tech member. That would be incredibly odd and unusual, and joining the FFA makes you eligible for membership at 16 different credit unions. The vast majority of people would be incredibly angry if they were automatically a member of 16 different credit unions upon joining the FFA through their website.
