Well, I'd call your nearest branch and see if they can help you.

Banks seem to be skittish lately with external transfers from recently opened accounts. I opened a Amex High Yield Savings account in February online with no problem, and used it to pay my Amex card in March. But as soon as I did an external transfer to Discover savings in late March I got a phone call from Amex demanding to know if the Discover savings account was a "personal account", and if the local credit union account I used for the initial funding of Amex savings was also a "personal account". I told the rep Yes, I only have personal accounts, and as I'm single they're personal accounts in my name only. That seemed to satisfy them. Hopefully that's all that Chase wants to know.

I recently opened an online Chase account. I am not in a location near by any branch and hence did it online. When I scheduled a transfer into savings account, I got an email saying that the transfer was cancelled and I see this message online. Did this happen to anyone else? They are not able to help me online as well. Told me to call nearest chase branch (which is above 100 miles) and have them call the online people.

We weren't able to sign you in; please call us so we can help.

Because of recent activity on your account, we've suspended your chase.com access for your protection.

creditUser101 ... that sure had to be a surprise! Chase blocks me by Zip Code when I try to sign up for regular banking services online and when I call they inform me I am not in their banking market foot print. OK ... I get it (not really a big deal) as I have good banking services and no Chase Branches anywhere as I live in the outback (but still on the grid)

I still had to visit the branch because my account was restricted and ID verification was pending. Got that done this Saturday and everything is working fine now.

Since I initiated the transfer from my other Bank account and that was canceled by the chase (because they thought it was fraud), I was asked by the banker to log-in into my other bank account and show them that I have sufficient balance in my other account. Before initiating the online transfer, I followed the process of adding my external bank account by having chase deposit two small amounts in my other bank's checking account. I still don't understand how they can ignore this verification process and asked me to log-in into my other bank account to show them the balance.

I also found my access denied when I tried logging in yesterday morning. I called the # on the screen and after a lot of ID verification and a couple transfers I got to the person who thought my scheduled transfer of $6k from Discover savings to Chase was "suspicious activity". She wanted to do a conference call to Discover to verify the account was mine and thats I had the available funds. I responded "well, if you look at the transactions on my account you'll see I have my Social Security benefit direct deposited to the account". She misunderstood and said "I'm not going to close your account, I'm saying to approve the transfer we need to conference call Discover". I replied "well, you're saying the transaction is "suspicious" which means possible fraud, and what I'm saying most people trying to commit fraud on a bank account aren't stupid enough to try that on an account they have their social security deposited into".

She insisted on the conference call with Discover and I refused, I told her to just reject the transfer and I'll do the transfer from Discover to Chase. I thought the conference call with Discover request was unreasonable, and was also concerned it might raise a red flag with Discover. What's stupid is I've pulled from Chase to Discover recently, but they think pulling from Discover to Chase is "suspicious activity". I just hate transferring out from Discover to external accounts - their ACH transfers out are very slow, 3-4 biz days, while they immediately deduct the transfer amount from the account, so you lose a couple days interest, more if over a weekend which this one is. When you pull from Disco savings you earn intererest until the external banks gets the funds. Only a couple bucks, but just annoying.

Oh well, once the transfer from Disco gets to Chase I'll try a smaller transfer on the Chase side. I just opened the Chase account in January for the $300 new account bonus w/direct deposit. This just confirms that at the 6 month mark to not forfeit the bonus I'll close the account and stick with credit unions.

The same thing happened to me as well during the one-hour long call. That analyst wanted to have a conference call with Bank of America from where I initiated the transfer. I gave him the number and he tried calling them but the wait time was too long and he gave up and eventually granted me the access to the online website. I am also going to shut down Chase after bonus conditions are met.

Looks like they are unable to differentiate between scammers/fraudster and genuine people.

@DaveInAZ, Appreciate your posts. And would appreciate a fast response, pls...

Unfortunately, I'm in the exact same predicament (more below) and WILL NOT tolerate the goons at Chase peeking into ANY information at my external bank in the name of "verification". So, could you pls express whether you:

1.) could link into your Chase checking and savings accounts at an external bank and ACH Pull funds out of chase in order to close out the account? Will the goons at Chase suspend even these funds transfers from going out via this ACH Pull from the external bank?

2.) If you could not ACH pull at Chase to pull-into-Chase funds from an external bank, how did you transfer a large amount like 15K/25K into Chase savings? Did you deposit external-bank checks into chase? (External-bank restricts ACH-pushes to $3000 only).

3.) could you do ACH-Push funds out of Chase accounts to your external Bank *without* the FRAUDs at the Fraud-Alerts-Team ("money-movement team") suspending and locking you out?

This so-called "money-movement team" are FRAUDS trying to eek out a career willy-nilly locking customers accounts for no apparent reason. They suspended my accounts access, including my 5yr+ credit-card account, just because I added an external-bank and scheduled an ACH-Pull at Chase from my external-bank!!! I had to spent close to an hour "verifying" my info and when I refused to allow them to bully-me and "peak into" my external-bank, the Rep cooly rejected the transfer request AND deleted my linked External-Account!!!???!! and just "un-suspended" my online access.

I'm afraid now, these goons at Chase will somehow suspend my account again and levy me with fees while I try to close out my accounts and rollback my mistake of opening, just last week, for the $500 bonus. Apart from the bonus, its absolutely deadbeat for me to bank with these Chase daylight dacoits.

Chase customer DIS-service reps are a**holes and think they can muscle and bully their way with their hapless customers who make the mistake of opening Checking and/or Savings accounts and FORCE them to disclose how much money we have with in our *other* bank account!@#@$! HOW IN THE HELL IS THAT AN "OK" PRACTISE - ITS OUTRIGHT ILLEGAL AND THUGERY IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!$#@! I'm aghast to even know that there *are* other hapless customers who have *quietly* complied with this hand-wringing and bullying in *broad daylight* !?!?! Chase has NO f***ing LEGAL RIGHT to even ask for such a preposterous "verification" - What were those trial deposits verification for, then?!?! I for one would NEVER even do the "verify with instant LOGIN" step anywhere, because, if you read the fine-print, they "can and will" store your login and password of the external-bank for "sometime" !!! (And if they loose that info in some hacking later on, they're cannot be held responsible as you'd have given away your rights!!).

I will NEVER again bank with CHASE, this is BEYOND INSANE to me.

I'm still tying to figure out why Chase thinks that moving Money from Discover to them is "suspicious", surely it should be the other way around? But then again I find it odd that my Bank wants my security passphrase when I make a deposit. I'm like um who in their right mind deposits Money into someone else acct? lol

Now that bank acct is THEIRS' for the taking any time, for eternity! That is why its very stupid of you (no offense) to have let them hand-twist you to reveal all that to them. I'm surprised there's still no class-action against Chase for such an outright illegal practise.

Can you pls express whether you:

Could anyone with info please respond at the earliest to these Qs?
