TD Bank question

An ad was on my facebook feed today for TD Bank checking and savings bonuses. I was going to sign up but it said I would need to call because I was outside of their footprint. I don't necessarily need another bank account but figured it wouldn't hurt to have a relationship with them and the bonus was good. Is it worth checking further or should I let it go?

One of TD's biggest draws is their branch access (location and extended hours). I love banking with them but there is literally zero chance I'd have checking and savings with them if I didn't live in their area (i.e. roughly the eastern third of the U.S.).

I opened a convenience checking with them 6 years ago for the benefit of their 7 days per week hours and branch a mile away. Since youre outside the footprint I guess that makes no difference. I think I got a $25 Amazon gift card at the time. I opened a simple savings for my minor child too. This was before I was educated about HYS. The online and app experience is pretty good. I always had to be mindful to keep $100 in the checking account because they will charge you $15 and that was irksome to me. I bank in multiple places so occasionally a mistake would happen and Id get the fee. Only happened maybe twice and they reversed it for me. They were efficient at handling a fraud issue where mysterious vending machine purchases ended up on the debit card. Two years ago I was approved for their TD cash card. They gave me SL 10,000. Once the bonuses were up with that it went in my SD because other cards gave me better CB that was easier to redeem. That card has been inactive 15 months and I happened to just by chance discover a couple days ago they closed it, only through calling in and having questions about their new Double Up CC did I discover this. It upset me that I wasnt sent a notice, even something through the online secure message wouldve been nice and simple to do wouldnt you think? Some peoples opinion is just what did I expect, but thats the first time its happened to me. Anyway no big deal, if you see my signature I wont be missing the cards contribution to my credit profile. I got a mortgage with them in January-- 30 yr fixed for 2.5% no points. Did my preexisting relationship have anything to do with it, who knows. But its easy now to fund my mortgage payments through the checking transfer right on the app. I have half the mortgage amount DD in there every two weeks. I'm using it solely for that now so will make it easy to look at a clean statement and quickly keep tabs on my payments over time. If you do end up with their checking, definitely look at the Double Up card which gives 1% when you spend and then 1% when you redeem into TD account. It was my experience that they are generous with SL. The TD Cash was minimum $25 to redeem, not sure if they're doing same with DU. Even now with 30 cards, they were still my 2nd highest CL. 1. It's not good to have excess accounts.

2. TD Bank is not so hot. Mediocre at best.

3. They once really did me wrong.

Mediocre at best? I guess I've been banking in the wrong places because compared to BofA (were I banked for many years), TD is a breath of fresh air.

@Horseshoez- everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Let's respect that. If the above poster didn't have a positive experience or feels their products don't measure up, they can express it. Just as you (or others) have reservations and opinions about BoA, others will feel the same about TD Bank, etc.

I've had much better experiences with many other institutions. BTW I'm no BOA fan either
