Affinity CU Membership chances? Approved with DP's

Both the DW and I have membership applications in as of yesterday. We are in IL so we had to go the donation route. So far we have had to up load DL initially, then today paystub, bill or statement and SS card. Both apps are in review.

We have planned on joining and then one of us applying for the 5% card at some point since 2019. I am curious about recent report of apps being denied for those trying to join through the donation route. It seems like the word got out on the 5% card and every credit hound dog in the US has flooded this little CU with apps. Maybe we waited too long? We will see.

Update / DP's: We both were approved for membership.

They required proof of address, employment, DL and SS

Took 2 business days - quite easy.

DW: EX 790

Me: EX 696 - One big unpaid CO left from 6.75 years ago

Neither were "offered" any products. We only applied for the high interest savings to make this a streamlined membership.

Now that I see all of the transfer options and large transfer limits, we will likely open a checking account. I can see myself liking this CU.

My membership experience was very easy. Instant approval, no docs required but there have several reports lately of people being denied membership so not sure if things have changed. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

You're good. It was the same for me and I'm in NJ. I uploaded power bill for proof of address and SSN. You'll hear back once they've completed processing. If memory serves it only took a day or two. YEMV.

Experiences have varied, so it's hard to say. They can take a few days to complete applications, so it can be a little frustrating when other banks are instantaneous these days. Good luck and I hope you both get your approval!

I was denied cc and membership. They had the courtesy to never send me any reason or denial letters. Highly recommend

I was denied back in late 2018. I discovered that they had a no pull nice secured card and had aspirations for the 5% rewards card that I saw during my secured card search. They said they ouldn't identify me but I suspect my 550 +/- EX FICO score freaked them out.

They have been on my radar since, long before they had this rush for the card. We will see if we get in. Not worried about the wait, getting in is what matters.

I do not see the pending $1k debit for my deposit in my AOD account as of this morning. Bad sign?

Not sure my Discover had pending then never went through. Was like man dat stinks but ive followed too many fico trains and its time to stop , 5 years ,32 credit cards open not including closed, its time to let my profile breathe. We both got in. I had my email first and set up online banking, sent some test deposits etc. By the time if finished the DW had her email... now to set that up.

Seems like a nice online set up. Now I await a clean EX file.

When I joined my home CU, they let me in, but limited the checking account I could have. A year later they let me have a big-kid account. I'm glad I'm past those days. Affinity was easy to join, and now I'm having a hard time not apping for their card, but I'm TRYING to slow my roll to no more than a new card every 6 months (I was going to app for theirs, but went with the new Citi, and no regerts, just FOMO).

Just to add a couple DPs. DW was approved one day after membership approval for the CB Visa $15k @ 12.5%

Pulled EX 786

4 INQ's in the last year, 5 new accounts including mortgage.

Took a day to get the approval after submitting POI again ($78k) personal.

I will await my EX cleansing to try my luck.

We also applied for a received a joint checking account on day 3. (I wanted to join with only savings to enhance chances of approval). No EX pulls for the Checking Account of course. I think we are done with personal checking accounts! I have way too many personal checking accounts. Most are older but I look like a money launderer or mob boss on paper.

Congrats to the DW! If interested, she can use the same pull for another credit product. I called in and requested the PLOC (9.75% APR). The representative pulled up the original credit report, attached it to the application and documented on the credit disclosure form. It process was super easy and an instant approval.

Cool, thank you. They have been beyond excellent. I looked over all of their rates, all seem quite good. They keep sending these personalized welcome emails and everything has just been smooth. The checking account was live in both of our accounts within 10 minutes of submitting the app. Setting up external accounts has been a breeze etc.

Lol when i join a new CU i always app the cc to see what they think of me. Most say no lol. Im past the point of apping to app. All the lenders who rejected me, especially multiple times like PF, wont get anymore apps from me. I will say the csr were really nice to talk with with i inquired about my fantom denials.

I wonder what would have happened. I figured it was best to let Affinity get to know the DW for at least 24 hours before applying.

Congratulations on DWs approval! If you're familiar with DCU, their setup is similar. And they also have the Loan Suite setup where they show you your preapprovals every quarter. I think you have to sign up for their quarterly EX Fico Score.
