I would suggest Affinity FCU @ 3.5% on max $5,000 then 1% anything over that.

Ally, American Express, Capital One, and Discover are all highly recommended. Alliant and PenFed are good alternatives if you prefer credit unions. They are all FDIC/NCUA insured with no monthly fees or minimum balance requirements, and all of them have highly rated mobile apps.

ETrade is owned by Morgan Stanley now. They have an online savings account that is paying 2.75% currently. If you have an ETrade account, you can see your savings account on the ETrade home page along with your ETrade account, and you can transfer money back and forth in minutes.

I have used Ally for about 7 years or so. I really like their "buckets" feature as well, highly recommend.

Idaho Central Credit Union also has a good product. They only require $1,000 minimum balance and the account is free. The rate stays competitive with all the others listed in previous replies as well.

FYI, Capitol One just updated the APY it went from 2.35 to 3.00. Makes me happy because I have large chunk of emergency funds deposited in a 360 savings.

I've been using Alliant for a few years, also now I'm looking at LendingClub (

$100 minimum deposit requirement) and Comenity Direct Market Code ($100 minimum deposit requirement too). accordingly 0.6% and 0.55%

I've been happy with Brio Direct. They seem to keep in the top quartile in terms of interest rates and increases.

Sure I have DCU, SCU, Andrews and some others. But they have limits.

Mostly keeping the bulk of my Cash funds here ..No gimmicks / No limits.
