ICCU (Idaho Central Credit Union) isn't entirely geofenced, any recent opinions or DPs on them?

There's not a whole lot of info on this credit union here on MyFico Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) The stuff I did read was positive but a lot of it was a couple years old. I may potentially try for a CC from them down the road a year or so later since I just joined them and it looks like based on old DP I found here that they appear to be BK friendly at least somewhat. I just joined them and I live in Minnesota which is way outside of their geographic footprint of Idaho, Oregon and Washington state. Application specifically states that it's a softpull and I pulled my Chexsystems report online after joining and they did pull Chex as well.

If you're curious how I joined them, on their eligibility page it states

Become a Member - ICCU - Idaho Central Credit Union

Persons in the employ or retirees of the State of Idaho, other public employees within the State of Idaho, or retirees of the same, and members of credit unions located in the State of Idaho.

I wasn't entirely sure but (to me, at least) that sounded like that meant if you're a member of a credit union that has at least one branch in Idaho, you would be eligible to join. I fired off an email in the for clarification to make sure that's what it meant, also stating that I was outside of Idaho and the rest of their geographic footprint. And sure enough, they responded back very, very quickly saying that was correct! I filled out the membership application on the website, it asked if I was a resident of Idaho, Oregon, or Washington state and I selected no. Then it asked how I was eligible for membership and sure enough, the first option was member of another credit union with locations in Idaho! I selected it and all it asked was the name of the credit union.

It instantly approved my membership applicated application at the end and I was immediately able to proceed to setup online banking! Absolutely phenomenal!!!

America First Credit Union, although i'm pretty sure they cut off membership for those outside of their geographic footprint. When you try to apply online it will say they've detected that you're outside of their field of membership and won't let you proceed.

BUT Mountain America Credit Union is open to anyone via the American Consumer Council and has branches in Idaho, and they accept out of state people to join them. Mountain America Credit Union in Utah & the West (macu.com)

Also on the "Big List of Credit Unions Anyone Can Join" at DepositAccounts.com, Capital Educators Federal Credit Union which is headquartered in Idaho is on that list, stating that they're open to anyone via a $20 donation to the Idaho CapEd Foundation. I know literally nothing about that particular credit union though. Things can change though overtime and I don't know how up to date they keep & maintain the list.

Don't know if you know anything about it, but if you do then please share your opinion....I am a member of American Consumer Council...but I don't work for ACC....So, do you think it would get me the membership for Mountain America Credit Union? I see its talking about working/employed something like this...Any other info you have on this MACU, such as if they do SP or HP just to join, or any HP on Chex??

@Janneman Regarding Mountain America CU and American Consumer Council the answer is yes . The American Consumer Council is in the Select Employer Group which makes you eligible to join. Also I have a post in personal finance section that has a list of credit unions you are able to join by being a member of the ACC.

@Janneman Yes just being a member of the ACC will work for MACU. Not sure if it's a hard pull or soft pull but they do pull Chex. And thank you for the kind words!

I do admit that it kind of seems like a strange thing to have in a field of membership and a way to be eligible to join a credit union, but I was reading the Wikipedia page for ICCU and saw this thought that it was neat, and it helped shed some light on as to why this is a thing in the first place.

Idaho Central Credit Union was organized in Boise as a state-chartered credit union on June 28, 1940, to serve the financial needs of the officers of other credit unions operating in the state of Idaho. At that time, officers could not belong to the credit union where they worked.

In 1953, Idaho Central changed its field of membership to include all members of other Idaho credit unions

To become a member with ICCU, first to become a member with MACU which means SP/HP and HP on Chex too...and then another SP/HP and on Chex too by ICCU, but it can definitely get us to ICCU...I do have ACC membership, so it will definitely work for MACU but don't think its worth that many pulls....
