Statement credit for US Bank turn into refund check

Hi Everyone,
I just redeemed my points for cash back and I just called the rep to put it as statement credit but I have a 0 balance and I request a refund check from them and they will send a refund check to me. It will take 3 business days to post to my account.

My question is once it is on my statement and I request a refund check on that statement will it say "Refund check" sent or something? I never dealt with US Bank redeeming points for a refund check before. Has anyone request a refund check from US Bank from a statement credit? Thank you.

I have received a check in the past from US Bank for credit on statement. Don't remember how it was labeled but did zero out the balance. In fact, most CC issuers will do this after a certain amount of time without a request.

Yes you are right but I don't have a US Bank near me. I don't want to open and close the account. I am on the East Coast. I am not in the middle states.

I live on the east coast and I was able to open a US bank checking account on phone, as long as you have creditcard with them you don't pay any account fees. When I redeem cashback or points I transfer itit to checking account then to another account at my local bank.

I see. Yes I know you can open a checking account over the phone and yes I know you don't have to pay account fees and you can tranfer to your perfered bank. But then to close the checking account I have to call to close it. I am lazy LOL to do that. I want the simple way to do it and that is for them to send a refund check to me so I don't have to open anything with them. If they were on the east I don't mind becuase I can go to the branch and close it. I like it do it in person. I am the old fashion guy if you know what I mean.

So I tired to open a checking account online with US Bank 9-22-24 and it was frozen near the 58% complete application. I had to call CS and they said it is the site is under maintenance. I told the rep if it is under maintenance why didn't say on the website. The CS say nothing. She said your account is in review and that you will get an email and it will say are you approved or not. Well if the checking is opened and then I will have to call CS to close it. Where I live I have TD Bank, Capital One and Chase Bank and when I create an account there is no waiting for application review what so ever. This is very frustrating to me. I think I am going to call US Bank credit card to send me a refund check and that would much easier. Was going to try the easy way to get the credit statement without them mailing to me but it is not working. Oh well. I definitely have to switch my credit card from US Bank to another bank like PNC and I have a branch where I live. This is so much of a hassle.

I am possibly lazier than you, and what I do with cards that offer statement credits (U.S. Bank, Amex Blue Cash, Care Credit MC, etc.) is I take the statement credit then I make a charge against it.

To keep it simple I usually go with Amazon (I just load my gift card balance in the exact amount of the credit) and it's taken care of easy peasy. It could be argued that I'm missing out on the rewards from the gift card load, but now we're talking about increasingly small amounts that I'm not going to be troubled with (as thrifty as I am, even I have to draw a line somewhere, ha).

Why close the checking account just keep 5$ in the account, it is free with creditcard account.

Becuase US Bank is not my main bank that is why and I usually us my checking at my main bank. I try to open a US Bank checking account becuase I want to put the cash back in the US Bank and transfer to my local back in my states but it takes too long waiting for 3-5 days to that approved. So after it opens I will call up and close it.

You can open another zell on your US bank account use email for one and your cll phone for the second account, it will couple of minutes if you use zell. Another way to transfer funds from us bank to your other bank is by writeing a check and using your cell phone camera it should only take for funds to be credited at other bank day or so.

Up date yesterday signed into my US checking account from the I Phone app and was able to transfer 100 dollars from US bank to my TD bank with in seconds and TD bank show the trasfer as real time transaction. No fee and it was very easy to do.

OK great I see. Yes it is very easy to do but for some reason they didn't send me a email saying I was approved for a checking account.
