Chase is a large financial instution, capable of offering significant opportunities others don't seem to provide. Their current offer is a $900 cash bonus if you park $15k into an account for a few months, and establish a small direct deposit. Few others in the arena have that kind of buying power over the public.

With that said, I would never bank with Chase any other than a temporary transaction. I would utilize the Chase bank SUBs only, and keep with my normal bank, or credit union. I have a half dozen of each. Different buckets an all, with each offering something that I want. Close the Chase account down after useage, and then reapply one to two years later, with whatever generous terms are there for the next SUB.

This recommendation is only if maximum opportunity matters to you. Otherwise, Chase is a fine entity to bank with. If the world would end, Chase would be one of the last financial institutions still standing. I want to use the power of their SUBs personally.

I personally avoid banks and only utilize credit unions. That said, I have heard Chase is the least of the worst of big banks. YMMV though because for every upset customer they have thousands who love them.

I have a checking and saving with them, but I'm only in for the sign-up bonus and for better credit approval purposes. I will say I didn't like how they handled my ACH saving transfer. I moved money form one of my other banks (Cap1 or Discover, I forget) and I made the ACH transfer from the outside bank. After a week I get called my the Chase fraud department stating that my ACH transfer was going to be deined because (Chase) couldn't tell the amount of money I was holding in the outside bank. In order for me to meet the 30-day deadline, I had to wire money to myself and pay the transfer fee from my outside bank as well as the "wire incoming fee" from Chase. I did call Chase CSR and have that BS incoming fee wavied. Once I get the bonus payout, I will be closing the accts once it safe to do so.

I've been with Chase ever since I was a teenager (at that time Washington Mutual, then Chase) and I have no issues. However, recently, I have been getting tired of earning no interest on my checking money. I keep thousands and thousands in there to cover all my monthly auto-pay bills. So, I am in the process of switching over to my Primis checking. Primis checking was 5.07% for a very long time and just this month turned to 4.85%, still very good. Still working on the conversion. I have a LOT of auto-pays linked to Chase, not to mention my job direct deposit. I put a lot of money in my Primis checking, starting to change all my auto pays to Primis, and lastly, I'll change my direct deposit. I won't close my Chase accounts, they just won't be my primaries.

I have been a Chase member for the last 12 years or so. Never really had any huge issues. From what I can remember, the few issues that I did encounter were due to my own error, and I was assisted the best they could at that point in time. I am in the process of closing my accounts now (checking/savings), but only moving to a credit union that I get access to via my employer. I get my salary a few days earlier sometimes, and have more access to ATMs in their network without fees. This should be helpful because I am kind of smack dab in the middle of two Chase branches which is annoying when having to visit one. I would recommend Chase, though, to anyone asking. I really like their app and web dashboard, FWIW.
