DCU is pretty good. They're not open to everyone for free but you can make a $10 donation to Reach Out for Schools when signing up to get memership to the credit union. DCU has a 5.5% APY on the first $1K you put in your membership savings and they have a money market that starts at 1.71% APY at $1K and goes up to 3.5% APY at $500K as well as their "Advantage" savings account that's 3.25% no matter how much you have in it.

They have pretty decent loan rates as well although their credit cards are nothing too special, just a basic Platinum card and a rewards card that only earns 1%.

any similar alternatives to Alliant credit union?

I'm looking to switch from alliant. Prior to the pandemic, they were fantastic. As of now, their app is sluggish, APR for savings is definitely slugging compared to many other credit unions, too many maintenances, and many more. I'm looking for a new credit union that is like a former self of Alliant but is open membership to all. thanks

Is your heart set on a credit union? Because Capital One 360 banking is outstanding. I have both 360 Checking and 360 Performance Savings (HYSA). 70,000 ATMs nationwide (Allpoint and MoneyPass), deposits available at CVS and Walgreens, no fees, no minimums. If checking and savings is what you need, 360 would be hard to beat. If loans are what you need, not so much, but their basic banking is great.

There is first one is Andrew's Credit Union good savings rate and credit card that may be of interest to you. The second credit union is Pen Air which has a high yield checking earning 5.05% on balances upto 10000. There is no debit card requirements just direst deposit. They have credit cards the rewards credit card is not upto this forums par.

The membership is easy Andrew's Credit Union is the American Consumer Council. Pen Air it is a small donation.

Alliant is a good all around credit union. Sure they may not be the best at everything but a tweak in one area may result in fewer benefits in another area. I don't have another suggestion for a CU but you can always run them simultaneously if you did find another that meets your needs.
