Looking at New Bank / Credit Union

Hey Everyone,

I’m currently trying to find a bank or credit union that fits what I need, but I’ve been having a hard time deciding which one to go with.

I’m looking for something I can use as a HUB account, mainly for pull and push ACH transfers, with good transfer limits and the ability to link at least 2 to 3 external accounts.

If anyone has suggestions or banks they use that work well for this kind of setup, I’d really appreciate the help.

I have several banks I use, but I have found that AmEx checking is my go-to account for transferring money around. They have their same day express transfer option if you set the transfer up on a business day before 2:45 Eastern time. I commonly move money from one bank into AmEx in the morning and then move that same money to another bank the same day. It's very fast. If it was your hub account, it'd be even easier. You can link up to 4 external accounts. I pretty much only use AmEx for transferring, I don't direct deposit into it or leave money there at all. I just use it for fast transfers between banks.

I would suggest Hughes Fcu in Tucson Az. Per a secure email there is no inbound ACH limit. The outbound limit is the balance in your account. I am a member of this credit union.

I want to try doing a same-day in-and-out transfer with Amex savings, but I'm nervous about getting into trouble.

I think Langley FCU is a great credit union for that purpose. There seems to be no limit on the number of external accounts you can set up, I haven't heard anything about a transfer limit, you get 2 day early direct deposit, you can get a personal line of credit backing up your checking account, it has a good billpay setup. A good hassle-free institution.

Just to confirm, have you personally used Langley for push/pull ACH transfers as a hub account? Any experience with their transfer limits or speed? Also, how many external accounts have you successfully linked?

Thanks for the suggestion! That sounds great, especially the lack of an inbound ACH limit.
Just to clarify, have you used Hughes FCU as a hub account yourself (for regular push/pull ACH transfers)? And are you able to link multiple external accounts without issues?

@Janus85 I have not used Hughes FCU as a HUB bank Just savings. I usually ask a bank or credit union what the ACH limits are. Langley FCU has ACH limits but cannot remember what they are. I was using Langley but did not have a good experience with them. There is a post on this forum about my negative experiences with them. To be fair I have good experiences with banks that others have had negative experiences with. I just started using Redstone FCU as my HUB they have no ACH limits as well. It is too early to give an opinion on Redstone.

Another bank for your consideration is Ally Bank

Yes
Any experience with their transfer limits or speed?
I'm sure limits exist but I have never come up against one.
As to speed, pretty fast.
Also, how many external accounts have you successfully linked?
Here again I've never come up against a limit. I've had as many as 25 external accounts linked
