Looking for a new ...Debit card

Not sure I'm even in the right section of the forums. After 2 recent approvals, I'm happy with my CC setup and am gardening for a while.

I'm fortunate enough to do regular international travel for work and I'm looking for a solid debit card for use abroad (mostly europe and south east asia) for the occasional times i need cash. (For domestic use I'm happy with a checking at my local credit union but they flat out do not network internationally)

Goals

-Low/no account maintenance fees.

-Low/no/reimbursed withdraw fees.

-Secure online banking/app/Digital check deposit (as much as i love the little local guys they are very old school paper)

existing relationships Amex/C1/FNBO/local CU

both schwab or fidelity have debit cards for their checking accounts that offer $0 maintenance fees and ATM rebates for international ATM withdrawals

The primis Perks checking account gives 1% CB on all purchases (including paying your citi card bill with it! ), no FTF on purchases I believe, and refundable ATM fees.

Just today I used it to pay ~$1000 of my citi ThankYou MC bill for a free $10!

It's an interesting account for sure, but it doesn't meet the OP's main requirement of international ATM fee reimbursement. And ATM fees in SE Asia can be double what we're used to here in the U.S.,like $7 instead of $3.50, so it can add up fast.

Rick Steves used to recommend one of two options: a Schwab debit card or a Capital One 360 debit card. Now that Capital One has switched their debit card to the Disco network, that is no longer an option for overseas use. Fortunately, Fidelity has made some significant changes lately and is basically the same as Schwab when it comes to overseas ATM use. You would be ok with either of those options.

Fidelity CMA account checks all the boxes for you.

Did obtain one of their cards due to its wide acceptance and reimbursement of fees.

2% foreign conversion fee is a fee. So, yes, they do charge fees. Schwab and Fidelity not only do not charge fees, the reimburse any other ATM fee incurred, even by a foreign bank.

Ah, you get hit with that on ATM transactions? I wasn't aware that it applied there as I've never had experience with that. Well, nevermind then.

Thanks all. After much reading on this forum and others , as well as looking at reviews of existing account holders schwab seemed to check my boxes best (bonus that I also found out they have a local branch less than 3 miles away).

Account set up was easy and solid customer service reached out this AM just as a courtesy welcome/thank you.

Have you received the 1% CB at the end of the month on a previous transaction with Citi? I've found Primis Perks often does not reward most financial institution transactions, including Paypal.

I did a test to citi retail and citi core and both gave me 1%. Mine come in on the 16th of each month.

I succumbed to the indirect pressure and bullying (maybe envy-induced too) from stalwarts ptatohed and Elvis, and became the newest member of Primis Perks today. Afterward, I called, on New Years Day, and in seconds I was speaking to a live American, and got a bunch of fine print matters resolved. Remarkable!
