Unsurprisingly, I was denied for Chexsystems as 4 inquiries in the past 30 days and 8 in the past 60 days is quite a bit.

If anyone else wants to join RBFCU outside of Texas/Oklahoma, this very wel may be one of the only chances there could be. No idea if they'll be geo-locked after they merge. Who knows.

RBFCU, famous for being geo-locked to Texas, is merging with a credit union that accepts ACC American Consumer Council.

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/news/2026/02/02/rbfcu-merge-oklahoma-based-credit-union.html

They're merging with True Sky Credit Union in Oklahoma. I have a ridiculous number of ChexSystems inquiries so am hesitant to try joining but this could be a way to get into RBFCU finally for non-Texas people.

https://trueskycu.org/membership

Anybody care to join and see how Chex sensitive they are?

The other question that remains, how will this affect RBFCU's Texas residents only going forward if they're operating in Oklahoma too? Just change to accepting Oklahome residents as well, or could they open up nationwide?

I ended up applying to be the guinea pig. What's one more Chex inquiry, anyways??? haha

Application went pending which is standard for credit unions and I pulled my Chexsystems report immediately after and no surprise, they pull Chex too which is standard for credit unions. Card was charged immediately to fund accounts, which as I know from opening other credit union accounts, means absolutely nothing.

Chex inquiries are as follows

4/1

8/2

10/6

14/12

26/24

I still think I'll be declined as I got 4 inquiries in the last month and 8 in the last 2 months which is excessively huge, but we shall see. Not all finaicial institutions are sensitive to lots of inquiries...

Now the other question, Why do other MyFico'ers go crazy over RBFCU? Is there an extremely desirable credit card they have, or do you people just go crazy and have an irrational desire to belong to some exclusive, geo locked institution?

I have no idea if True Sky pulls Chex or not. If you want to join RBFCU / True Sky do it before the merger completes. If you go about two or three screens from where your True Sky link is you come to a page that asks your eligiblity. That screen has three options residence and option and the last one American Consumer Council as apart of that verbiage you want to join because you do not qualify on the two options before it.

What does RBFCU offer that has your interest?

They do pull Chex, I already applied then pulled my Chex right after to comfirm they did. Application went pending which is standard for credit unions and I'm expecting to be denied as I have numerous Chex inquiries.

I'm not sure what RBFCU has, I just know it's been a desired credit union here at MyFico over the years with lots of people lamenting they can't join as they're not in Texas.

One person's opinion I saw was they thought the Fed would cut rates by a half to one point this year. We will see.
