Easiest way to get money from my bank to NFCU checking?

I just wrote myself a check for cash to make my first deposit. I’m very very VERY cautious when it comes to my banking because of my social security direct deposit so I want to ease in smoothly and then if no major hiccups happen over the next 6-9 months, I’ll consider actually closing my account with my bank and giving NFCU my full banking but for now I am going to be applying for the CLOC on Monday when I do my cashRewards CLI and I’ll start slowly switching my accounts to draft out of NFCU, I am just trying to find the best way to consistently fund the account.

I opened up their app and they let me sign up for the checking account but when I went to transfers, it will only let me do a transfer from an external institution to pay my cashRewards so I was wondering if the eDeposit is the best way?

1. Yes you could do a mobile deposit of a check.

2. You could push a transfer from your other bank.

3. You could make a deposit at a deposit-accepting ATM. (If you do a search on their site for atm's, they will list out atm's in your area and it will tell you which are deposit-accepting).

Alright so for my situation, the mobile deposit will have to work. My bank would definitely charge me for a push transfer that isn’t bill pay.

I did get an email this morning that my check was accepted for processing so it looks like so far, so good.

I really like Navy but when it comes to my banking, I am very careful who gets to be my primary checking account and FirstBank has treated me quite well since I got the account in 2012 - however, they’re a small bank and as such won’t extend any form of credit including a checking reserve to me which makes me apprehensive about setting up auto pay for all of my accounts out of my checking.

You can also sign up for the send money feature of NFCU and FirstBank using Zelle i transfer money back and forth between my Chase, My Wife's Chase and my NFCU Accounts instantly funds are available. I googled to see if firstbank is on zelle and both entities are in the Zelle network and it will work for you like it works for me.

How i do it.

Sign up for send money with zelle in your NFCU online portal by clicking send money register your email and phone number then get a second email to register with firstbank. you must have two emails as your sending money similar to how paypal does it using email addresses and phone numbers. then you can add each bank to the other using email addresses and transfer cash back and forth instantly.

The emails must be registered as the emails in use by that bank so you will have to update your email address with the financial institution how you do this is up to you bottom line is you must have two different email addresses on file one at each bank in order for this to work.

And there are no fees

It is secure zelle uses the email address to identify which account to route the funds to and does this in seconds.. This also works with any bank in the network and others so you can also send money directly to family members and friends this way.

I've done all of the above mentioned except atm.

Mobile Dep: 3-5 days

Push transfer from bank: 3 days

Zelle: instant! Love this.. It's free and most major banks use this to send money now.

I'm not Grinchy, I just had to use him cause he's so cute LOL

Yep, I set up Zelle and did a test transfer and it worked perfectly. I’ll use Zelle whenever I need to replenish the NFCU account
