How long to join NASAFCU?

I applied this morning to be a member of NASAFCU and it still shows pending, how long does it usually take?

I applied this past Friday afternoon and it still shows pending as of today at 2:52 PM CST 6/6. After I got the pending on Friday I uploaded ID and UT info just in case and thought they might respond earlier this morning but they did not. I also sent a secure email earlier today and asked them what is the status of the savings account app and still have not heard from them.

Honestly with this kind of service or lack thereof I am not impressed. I also am an instant gratification kind of person so the longer they delay the less interested i become. By the time they respond I will have blown them off.

I might also add that two of the verification questions were strange as they had two correct answers to choose from so I thought this may have triggered the pending issue. I assume I chose the ones they didn't like. When I have applied to other credit unions online the approval (for savings accounts ) have been automatic. I get the pending but I do think they could be a little more timely in their responses since it is an app for an account and not any kind of loan. I chose online as my branch so I expected an email response and not anything by snail mail per se.

Joining feels like forever . I was going on like 2 weeks plus with all the documents they want, then cant see them, them want again, i just got tired and cancelled my membership app. Takes forever to get messages returned etc. Im glad though from what i read here they can be a jealous mistress, wanting you all to themselves, ill be content to nurture my relationship with Penfed where i feel wanted

Mine took about a week to process. The day I received notification that I was a member. I apped for the cash rewards card. It was a instant approval for $25k. My highest SL to date. Just be patient, it will pay off in the end.

My dad applied for the membership few weeks ago and it took 28 days to get the final approval . I think they are taking their time to review the application.

Do you mind sharing how many inquiries and range of scores at the time? Also was it a HP and what bureau? Thanks

It was a SP. My EX Fico was a 743. Their scoring model had me at a 701 if I'm not mistaken.
I had 14 inqs ( I think, could have been a few more) and a ton of new accounts. Some of which hadn't reported at that time.

Takes too long. I applied, went to pending and after 2 weeks they wanted my driver license. I uploaded it, waited another week and called them. They said they're still verifying. I asked them what other documents they need but they said they will let me know later.

After 5 weeks without an update, i sent a message via their application status website, for them to introduce the application to their collective rectums . The application is still pending, but i eagerly await their reply. It was a SP anyway and at this point, i dont care if they deny, since i just got into PENFED and got approved for their platinum rewards visa.

I got this email this morning after I sent them an email asking for an update yesterday morning:

Thank you for your interest in NASA Federal. A membership officer needs to still look at your application. Review of a Membership Application can take 2 to 3 business days. Since the application was entered in Friday close to 4pm, the 3rd business day would be Wednesday (tomorrow) of this week. Once your application has been reviewed, you would receive an email from us.

Got a message from NASA saying they couldn't verify info submitted on online application so they wanted a notarized copy of DL. SS Card and a UT bill. I immediately uploaded it to them and got an email back saying verification documents have to be mailed in by snail mail. I responded and said I am sending them notarized copies of the same info I uploaded to them (the upload was a copy of notarized documents) and if that would be acceptable to them. I will send it out tomorrow priority mail but I will not keep sending it if they say they didn't receive it and I won't jump thru too many more hoops for a savings account as it is something I don't have to have. The info is the same as the info in my credit report so I don't know if the SP has limited info or what but we will see.

I did some soul searching and some additional research last night as I was preparing the info to send snail mail to NASA. After reading some member reviews on the internet NASA scares the heck out of me. I definitely don't need any additional hassles with a share account. I realize that there are a lot of happy customers out there but the many stories I read from unhappy long time customers was a deciding factor. I can see thru BS and over reactions but these folk had documented, verifiable info to back up their comments.

I have lived and own the same house for over 20 years. My address is the same for over 20 years. My oldest account is over 46 years. I uploaded a copy of my notarized DL and SS card along with my most recent UT bill. Both the DL and UT show may address of record. According to them they could not verify the info online and they will not accept uploaded documents. I applied because I want the online banking feature. I don't want to run to the post office, make a lot of phone calls or things like that. I just want the convenience to do my banking online. Since they are not capable of this kind of banking they are not for me.

I am happy for those that are happy with NASA but I am to old for a lot of drama especially when I don't need it.

I have withdrawn my application for membership.

I will continue to look for a CU that uses soft pulls for membership. If you know of any please advise. Eventually I will find the perfect CU for me. Not there yet. DCU is close but I find their site to be a little strange to navigate. PenFed's site is better but they low balled me on their CC and I don't like the strange scoring system they use but they aren't bad.

Alliant has been really good to me If you do open your account, open the free checking at the same time, and save yourself some hassle if you get freeze happy on your credit reports.

I love Alliant. They are my primary CU. River if you decide to join you cannot have EQ frozen. They can't do a sp thru a freeze. Last I heard they were giving $50 bonus for opening checking acct.
