Zelle Missing Money

Yesterday I sent $125 using Zelle from one bank account (Cap One) to another (NFCU). I've done this before and it was always instant. This time it didn't arrive. I called and NFCU said it was coded for "one day delivery" by Capital One and should be in my account by midnight.

Well, the money still isn't there and according to NFCU, it should show up "sometime today." I called Cap One and they said Zelle's system determines how long it takes for the money to arrive and couldn't give an exact date.

I'm pissed. I could've just used the bank's own transfer process if I wanted it to take this long. And now my money is in digital limbo with no access to it. I will NEVER use this service again.

Any one else have this happen with Zelle?

the girlfriend (wells fargo) and I (bofa) send money back and forth via zelle using our phone numbers and it is almost instant.

recently, for the first time I tried sending from my nfcu to my bofa via zelle and was unable to because both accounts use the same (my only) phone number/email address.

zelle with nfcu allows one to use account and routing numbers (which zelle with bofa doesn't seem to allow). that route seems to go ACH/next day as long as it's before a certain cutoff (I initiated after 7PM pacific time Monday and it showed up early Wednesday morning).

If I’m not mistaken, NFCU terms allow Zelle transfers up to $2,500 per month. After that you may run into transfer delays or issues. Recently one of mine took 2 days to show up through Zelle from NFCU.

Ha! We are definitely spoiled now, but I do NOT miss those days. I always paid everything late. Now I never miss a payment.

NFCU for some reason randomly goes to 3 day processing for outgoing Zelle so I use my bank instead and it’s never gotten delayed. You might be able to call Zelle customer service and have them release the funds early. I haven’t tried but they are actually quite helpful which is surprising when you’re used to the PayPals of the world.

Also, don't forget about being able to put the money in the mailbox with a note asking the mail lady/man to please put stamps on your letters and go about your business......ah, do miss somethings 'bout the good 'ol days.

My wife uses it monthly to put money into our joint account for paying our mortgage, and it comes through in minutes.

I find ACH transfers faster, safer and superior than the good old days.

Assumed you were not serious! Just wanted to needle you! Feel the same way you do on the modern age! In fact, since the United States Postal Serivce changed the way we process mail in my state, we have one processing center for 5,400,000 people to save money. Center is now located in Minneapolis MN. Now it can take two to four day to mail something first class to a town 3.5 miles away ... progress you know.

Money is still "pending." Supposedly it "should" clear my account by Monday at midnight.

I don't use Zelle, however speed of ACH transfers is quite different depending on which bank or credit union.

From my CU-1 to Barclay's Bank it is next working day. (1-day)

From CU-1 to Capital 1 360 it is two working days. (2-days)

From CU-1 to CU-2 it takes 4 working days (4-days)

Same CU sending funds, send every month, some institutions just hold/delay transfer.

Sounds like NFCU is one of the slower CU's for transfers.

The receiving institution is the one holding/delaying transfer.

Been using Zelle for quite some time now from US Bank to my NFCU, however it takes a few business days to receive it. I just use my email address but I just use my RN and AN, but it's still gonna be the same, I don't see any different. It's whatever, maybe it will code it as ACH, we'll see lol.

Kforce ... speed is the answer! Transfers between two of my banks are regularily same day using ACH. Set it up in the early morning (6:00am) and by 3:00pm it is showing in the other bank's account (mine). Use it a lot and it happens consistently.
