buying a car from ebay?

Hi, has anyone ever purchased a car online or through ebay? I am looking at a car at luxurymotors.com at a dealership in Las Vegas. They seem to have a legitimate ebay store. Has anyone had any experiences with buying a car online? I would get an inspector and also have the dealership ship the vehicle to me, but I'd like to hear of some experiences, or advice for this. The reason for buying online is the price. It is the best that I have found for the value. Any help would be appreciated!!

As long as it a reputable dealership and legit, i dont see why you shouldnt. Alot of dealers sale through i would personally want to the inspect the car my self, but thats up to you!

I would go inspect the car before purchasing if possible. If you are having the car shipped to you pay the insurance for shipping damages. I plan to put my car on eBay as well but I will only sale it to a local buyer or someone that will personally come inspect the car and drive it off. I don't want the aggravation of shipping and prefer the buyer see first hand what they are buying. Good luck with your purchase!

I currently reside in Las Vegas....Luxury Motors is a legitimate dealership.....but a small one like 20 used cars at a time kinda place.

Never had experience buying online before, just confirming they are real.

Couple of weeks ago I bought a Toyota Highlander on eBay. Not a Bad Deal. It is 2006 with 8300 Miles and paid $13,750. Runs good.

I want to buy a 2004 BMW 545 with great mileage (only 35k). I've made an offer at $28k OTD (I will be making a down payment of $13k and financing $15k). He is working on the offer right now with his Manager. If everything goes thru, my husband and I will be flying to NV from CA to buy it and then drive it back home. It is cheaper than having it shipped here, and I want to see it first. The only thing that I am concerned with is the fact that I have researched Luxury Motors and there has been some major complaints about their IL branch. So far, I have not yet heard of anything negative for the one in Las Vegas. Plus, the eBay feedbacks were all positive, but there were only 25 of them.

Have you looked on autotrader? Out here on the east coast we have plenty of 545's selling for around 24-28k! The miles be pretty good!

Yes, we have looked on autotrader. Nothing close for this price. The car seems almost too good to be true and that is why I am a bit apprehensive...

My boss has bought both of her BMW's through Ebay (although she has a friend who runs one of the Ebay stores)

She got her slightly used BMW from Florida a few months ago and it was shipped to Las Vegas....She got an amazing deal and then her Ebay store friend sold her old BMW through Ebay....

I totally forgot about this until I was reading some more of these posts.....

Thanks Schoolbuskid for the suggestions. I don't want to buy anything too far, because I want to be able to see it before I drive it off the lot. This is the one I have been looking at:

He's been able to lower it to $25k...without taxes and registration. I don't know how I feel about the interior of it, but my husband really likes it because he says its different and looks sportier.

I have bought many cars from ebay, and as long as you do your homework you will be find. Let the feedback be your bible. If there have been any problems just walk away and go to the next good deal.

Luxury Motors is a very upscale Dealer Group. Joe Abbas the Owner started this group in Downers Grove, IL several years ago. They now have 2 or 3 Bentley stores as well as others throughout the country. They originally started out as a high line used car store. They have not left that behind. Although, they have franchised Dealerships now they also still have many highline used car locations. Buy with confidence from them. They sell quality cars and trucks.

I've bought and sold via eBay and whether its on eBay or on"terra firma" making a good car buy is always based on being prepared - know the product, know the invoice, the MSRP, or the market's average selling price, etc., and knowing how to make the best deal with the seller. The former is all based on easily conducted research, the latter is based on hard-fought-for experience. I have been through a lot of battles with sellers, but I recently learned from some videos at http://www.easi.info/new-car-buying/ how to get the upper hand on any seller, particularly dealers. Be Prepped and smart and take advantage of the free stuff on the web.
