Just got approved with JP Morgan Chase

Soooo new to the forums here. Few years back I needed a mini van and wasn't able to be approved for a loan. Score of 490. I ended up financing through credit acceptance at about 22% !! Didn't have many options atthe time and I got my van. In the 3 years I had the loan I was able to get credit with Cap One and opened a secured cc as well. Always paid on time. I have 2 judgements and old accounts that I am working to pay off in collections. Well yesterday I went to see about getting a new van with a real bank. I was approved for a 2014 Town and Country! Interest still high, but 11% is way better than 22%. Score is at 595 now and working to get to 650 in the next year to hopefully qualify for a home loan. I will be checking the forums for tips through this journey.
