The newest thread I found was 2011, and one poster said Equifax. Does anyone have any recent experience getting financing through Kia (which I believe goes through Hyundai's financing?)? Who did they pull? If you don't mind, would you post your scores and the loan rates you got through them? (Loan amount, APR, monthly payment).

I also looked through the auto loan approval thread, but after page 17 I kind of gave up, lol.

I was recently denied an auto loan through my credit union because I discovered they pull TU, and I have an open collection from 2010 that was erroniously created by my old credit union 11 months after I paid the bill. I've been battling that nightmare for the past three years, and last August they finally sent me a letter with a kind of weird correction, and said they would get it removed from all three credit agencies. Surprise, surprise- they didn't. It still lives on TU, and was not changed on Experian the way they said it would be. Shame on me for not following through and assuming they would do what they said they would before I applied for the car loan. But seriously- it's just my luck that not only would I get a collection I never deserved in the first place, but that, after planning for this for 8 months to make sure I wouldn't have any problems, when I do finally apply for a car loan, they pull the one credit agency that collection hasn't been removed from ! SMH!!

Anyway, any info on Kia would be great. If they pull from Equifax that would be spectacular. :-) (crossing my fingers and toes..... and my dog's fingers and toes too)

Oh, and BTW: I finally filed a complaint with the BBB tonight against that credit union. I should have done it a loooooong time ago. Ironically I have gotten the very best advice from the collection agency who has my erroneous account, who suggested the BBB complaint as part of my next plan of attack. They have been pretty amazing. ::go figure::

Oh duh I have a TU Fico report still live and guess what in 2-12-2013 Kia Dealership pulled TU.

so that's a little old but just call the dealership directly and ask them what they pull... You want to apply at the specific dealership anyway!!

just tell them you are only interested in Kia financing only

This is very interesting. After culling as much data as I could from the epic auto loan thread I determined that Kia financing must pull Equifax, since that was what was reported most often, but you guys had a different experiece. However, when I bought my used car from Kia two days ago in Puyallup Washington, they did indeed pull Equifax. I guess this means that it's different depending on where you are in the country? It seems like it's just the luck of the draw. It's like dipping into a hat with three cards, and you have no idea which one you will pull out. Thanks so much for the feedback!

Who the Captive Finance Co pulls (Kia Finance) when you apply online and who the Dealership pulls (likely all three) when you are in a dealership are two different things. Just keep that in mind. If you are approved online make it abundantly clear than when you go to the dealership you do not want them to pull any reports, that is of course if you are happy with the rate you got.

"but I know other captive lenders do when you apply online"—cool! this is very helpful. In the market myself for a new car, but a little weary of what these manufacturer pre-approved incentives actually mean. KIA is one of the incentives I am considering.
