Finally bought my first brand new car on Thursday. Figured I was almost 30 and it's time to stop buying used. Ended up with a 2009 Chevy Equinox. Great vehicle. Got a great price on it. Paid $16,876 on a sticker price of $25,010 with the dealer's real cost being $20,048 (including the $3,000 rebate). So the dealer actually lost $3,172 on it. That's not even including the extra they paid on my trade above KBB. Got jipped 1% (6.99%) on my interest rate but I plan on paying it off early anyways.

Only reason I am even posting this is to make sure everyone knows about truecar.com. Basically Truecar is the best website I have found to find the real figures on the prices. Shows the MSRP, Dealers Invoice, and then the real Dealer's Cost. They also give the average paid by consumers (they research recent transactions) and what a good price would be to pay. You can even break the prices down by Nationwide, Regional, and Local. This came in really handy. I spent a couple of days looking around the internet and this is the best website I was able to find.

I spent over 3 1/2 hours there. Got up and was walking out the door 3 times. They were desperate to sell the cars. Not sure if all Chevy dealerships are like that right now or not. I was the only customer around the entire time. They were hurting for business, that is probably why I got such a good deal on them. 2010s are going to be rolling in soon so that's probably why I got them even lower then what they really wanted to go. Congrats on the new car. I love my 2007 Chevy Equinox! I ended up with a really good deal on mine but it was actually due to my poor credit history. The dealer had to knock over $4,000 off the price to get me financed. The interest rate is awful but I hope to re-fi with my CU soon.

I almost bought a used 2007 but the deal on this 2009 was too good pass up. Good luck on your re-fi

Really good point. My dealer isn't going anywhere....at least yet. Who knows what GM will do next.
