Hi there. I'm looking at leasing a jeep wrangled unlimited but am worried that my credit situation is going to be a problem. I currently have a 622 fico 8 score, with a large credit card bill that I am paying off next week, and several hospital collections from the past two years that will be paid off next week as well.
Assuming all of that happens, my score should increase by about 30-40 points once I pay off the cc debt, and I have about 8k equity in my mustang and have a cosigner (high income low credit due to a foreclosure 5 years ago). Is it even worth my time in trying to do this? I spoke with the local jeep dealer and they were up front that it would not be a guarantee and would not be the easiest, but it was possible. Just looking to see if there are any finance managers out there, or other people in similar situations who have gotten a lease.

*having to do this due to needing an SUV 4wd. 4dr for work/where I am moving too. (Too much **bleep** snow)

**Looking to have a low payment preferably around $200, but anything less than $275 will be ok as well.

***total combined income would be about 110k per year with only 30-40% debt to income
Thanks in advance guys and gals. Happy New Years!

Don't even know where to start you are in for a bit of a shock when you shop Wranglers

Wranglers are very expensive hobby cars not daily transportation. You are aware they will run you 40k scantily optioned. Easy to hit 55k for an unlimited. The most common cross shopped item with a Jeep is a boat - this should tell you that this is recreation not transportation.

Most dealers are not even leasing the 2018's yet - they are mostly pre sold as it is the first new Jeep in 10 years. When they do come out with leases they will be north of 350 / month and it will be a big rip off since Wranglers have very very low depreciation. You would do better buying one and selling in 3 years as opposed to leasing.

This will be the first model year of one of the historically most unreliable cars sold in the US, from the most unreliable brand sold in the US. Do you feel lucky?

Why lease a Jeep when most of the fun is modifying and off roading them - 2 things you can not do with a lease.

I love Wranglers but I would rather do a 300-mile road trip in a soul-sucking Kia then a "well appointed" Jeep especially on the highway.

No one needs a Jeep wrangler for job or snow. There are plenty of cars that would fit your budget, be awesome in the snow and be more comfortable and reliable.

Toyota Tacoma

Toyota 4runner

Subaru Outback 3.6r / Forester xt ( the base engine is too lame )

Honda Ridgeline

Most any Midsized SUV

I work at a CDJR and I would recommend you look at something besides a Wrangler. A Cherokee or Grand Cherokee would be a better choice for your situation. Both have rebates and you can get a 4x4 for less than a Wrangler. Also the remaining JK 18s are flying off the lots and the JL isn't available. So you're not going to get aggressive pricing. We can't keep them in stock and this is the outgoing model. When the JL hits on boy.
