2x pulls for honda lease?

Hi, helping a friend lease a honda. dealer says they need to pull EX to check for fraud or some other bs and that honda finiancial will do it again. I don't like this. I sent them a EX report w auto scores yesterday but they seem firm on this policy - friends auto 8 is 778 so the score is not the issue. what is the norm when leasing and why can't the dealer just do a softpull? comments welcome as I want to do this today. thx

Dunno if it's the norm, but I also got double-pulled by the dealer/gm financial (1 HP each) when I applied back in February.

hey, thx. my friend is in santa barbara and went to a dealer half way to los angeles where I am. I called a local dealer, talked to the mgr and he was only too happy to accommodate me. I sent him the deal, the sticker and a snap of her fico 8 auto which is 787. he matched the deal and it will be a single pull when she is ready. actually better as I can meet here there to make sure all goes well. the fraud excuse is just pure bs to me, if they have an applicant and they show a valid drivers license and the pic is a match the fraud excuse goes right out the window. anyway, 1st world problems for sure. I like to keep hard pulls ready for when they are really needed but that is just me. have a good week!

I don't really get the 'double pull' BS either.

I showed up at our Honda dealer with a NFCU check and they didn't so much as pull our credit (or attempt to) once.

Is your friend applying with AHFC? They typically have the pre-qualification portal which is SP to get pre-approved, which once the final application is submitted should result in one HP, not 2.

I realise they are 2 different scenarios, but even when I showed up with a check in hand the last time I purchased in 2016 I STILL had my credit pulled by the Ford Dealer for some earthly reason.

prob the patriot act or some other baloney. for a cash deal they need nothing

Whenever I buy or lease always ends up being two... One with the dealership and one with the car manufacturer for whatever reason. I have never been able to avoid a double pull.

I feel like this is a dealer-specific thing. I work for a dealership, and just leased a vehicle thru GM Financial a couple months ago. I had the finance manager directly send my info only to GMF. Resulted in one inquiry (TU) and an instant approval. Now they do submit info for OFAC, but it did not result in an HP from my dealership.
